Right guys, a friend of mine is house sharing with another girl & basically they split it straight down the middle or at least thats what is supposed to happen!!!

 

So technically it is half her home, however from the way the other girl acts you would think not!! She bosses my mate around, saying she can & can not do this in the home, can not turn heating on, she has even moaned about food smells & perfume WTF!!!!

 

Now to me this is totally unfair considering they share this home, I have tried to tell my mate she needs to talk to this girl & tell her in a nice way, that *Hey this is my home as much as it is yours!!* & what she does is up to her, within reason of course!!

 

I am also sure that possibly this other girl is taking the piss with the money side of things, but dont wanna pry to much into that, but IMO this person is well & truely walking all over my friend & I cant sit back & watch it!!

 

So any advise would be grateful please!!

presumably they have bought it not rented, as this does make a difference to the rules - basically i have this situation frequently amount some of my tenants -

 

2 solutions

 

1) one of them pays more rent than the other and as a result of this, the shared rooms belong primarily to her (the other bedroom obv still belongs to the other person, as do any en suites) - shared being kitchen /lounge /sitting room / conservatory

 

2) split the house literally into 2 halves, all 1 persons stuff down 1 side of the room and the other on the other side, its a crap way of doing it but if they cant get on then one must pay more rent than the other

split down the middle!!! as far as im aware!! but its silly things like having friends over, the heating, almost controlling like a parent. I know my mate is uncomfortable about the situation but I feel like she needs say something, but this person is good at turning things round!!! & will just make her feel bad!!!

she needs to stand up 4 herself then if the 1st 2 options above dont work - failing that... well if she doesnt stand up and take control she needs to learn to live with it

id just go in like she owns the place (not just half) and lay down the order that all is fair, if that doesnt get a "yes" response, then take the tape recorder out her pocket, stop it recording and nip off to the lawyer lol

thats exactly what I have been saying, she needs to tell the other girl that it is her home to!!! It is unbelievable really, how one person can be so bossie(sp) & think they rule the roost!!

 

If it was me I would say hey piss off I pay half the rent too you know!!

well theres still the two "legal" solutions above, but yeah id go in and just sort it herself

I think it should be solution one IMO, their own bedrooms but all other facilties shared & they draw up guide lines between them as to how things are done, ie housework etc & having friends over/entertaining etc, but as for the bills if they are shared then, IMO I think the other person is wrong for dictating when the heating should or shouldnt be put on!!
