[ Site News ] - Added new 'Profile Status Bar'

We used to have the old shitty 'ratings' system which none of us liked / agreed with. This was also removed so I could eventually add in the Profile Status Bar modification (from www.threadsdev.com).

 

I finally got round to doing this this morning (god knows why I was up so early!? lol) - and it appears to be working great ! This will now hopefully encourage people to fill in their profiles properly and so we can all get to know each other better. I'm hoping the profiles can be extended at a later date but i'm still learning PHP myself!

Description:

It assigns a value (from 0-5) based on the completeness of the user's profile into the rating field. This hack assumes that you are not using the rating function. Then it will include a "status bar" graphic showing the completeness of a user's profile. This hack gives instructions for displaying the status bar with the posts, in both flat and threaded mode, in the user's profile, on the Who's Online screen, and in the User List. It even adds the ability to sort by profile status in the user list.

 

What the bars look like:

It will show if the profile is empty (or not updated).

It will show if the profile is 20% complete (ie 1 star).

It will show if the profile is 40% complete (ie 2 star).

It will show if the profile is 60% complete (ie 3 star).

It will show if the profile is 80% complete (ie 4 star).

It will show if the profile is 100% complete (ie 5 star).

i reckon instead of the Birthday mod your next task should probably be MSN Messenger mod? change ICQ to MSN because nobody on here uses it, really, i think that's the only reason I've got 100% full profile because i stuck in my [unused] ICQ number. then you can un-sticky the MSN topic at the top of Random.

for now i've changed it to either ICQ or MSN Messenger ID - NOT ideal obviously but will look into doing it properly - i know the threadsdev people have it down as a 'to do' and they normally go the whole hog and implement it properly ...

i dont think the indicator doesnt uses the ICQ field in calculating - or at least not as a priority - mine was blank and my profile was still 100%
