CTW Members Samsun Posted April 20, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 20, 2003 for people to download, ive never done this before and can anyone give me any advise how to stream my mix over the internet?
CTW Members Chewi1562627764 Posted April 20, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 20, 2003 okie dokey... ...time to melt some brain cells, ready? then i'll begin. Firstly d/l a nifty program called 'Helix Producer Basic 9', do a search on Google, i think it's free - if not i got a copy off Kazaa. Now that program can be used to convert your spanking and rather HUUUUUUGE wav format mix to RealAudio format. Bit tricky to do, not easy to explain either, use the help files. Secondly go to www.skoolhouse.com - register there and if u go to the 'Be Heard' section u can upload your RealAudio file to their server for peeps to stream whenever they like. I wont lie - it is a bit technical and horrid to do the encoding, just make sure the file comes out at about 12Mb or SkoolHouse wont accept it. Good luck! CTW Members TomD Posted April 21, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 21, 2003 eerrrrrgggghhhhhh don't use realaudio it's disgusting, slow and crap. please mp3 it instead. find out about how to make use of the free webspace that you should get with your ISP (like bt, freeserve, telewest), etc, save your mix as a low-quality mp3 and upload it to your web space (your ISP will give you instructions on how to do this). CTW Members Chewi1562627764 Posted April 22, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 22, 2003 I've not had problems with RealAudio, even over a 56k modem, and if you're cunning people can download the mix if they dont want to stream it. Used to host my stuff, like you said, as a low format MP3, but you soon use up your free space! At least with RealAudio and SkoolHouse u can bung as many mixes as you want up and link to them directly from your own website. S'pose everything has their own pros and cons Quote BigWideWorld Profile FaceParty Profile *** please donate to the "Get Chewi 1210's" fund ***
