Many, many organisations and DJ’s kindly offered their services in one week of donations that raised money for an important cause. “….Music is used as a means to facilitate a positive change in a person's disability or condition…..” reads http://www.worlddjfund.com. As dance music fanatics, we (HDUK and UHD) can relate to this statement and were happy to play a part last year, doing our bit to raise funds. Tom Stephan, Dave Pearce, Tim Westwood, Lottie, Alan Thompson and many, many more have already publicly pledged their services this year – alongside countless others. After our event last year featured Andy Farley, Ed Real and Jon Doe (amongst others), we have decided to return this year with another impressive line up. The above event is a combined effort of, essentially, two ‘organisations’ : HDUK and UHD. HardDanceUK - or HDUK as it is also known - was born out of the ashes of the Hard House UK discussion list run by the Stimulant DJs. It is an email discussion list that can take a light-hearted or serious form of debate of any aspect of the hard dance scene. It features a pretty mixed bunch, from occasional clubbers to superstar DJ and producers. Throw in some additional producers, promoters, club monkeys, webmasters and your getting close to the right mix that makes up HDUK. UHD (‘Universal Hardcore Demensia’) is a similar collective of hard dance fanatics. These guys are a web collective that aims to bring DJs together that favour a more underground approach to dance music. Fronted by head-man Ziad Dar, the music can range from hard house, freeform, acid techno and many other styles. The collective's ‘Judgment Night’ was an event to put these principles into practice. The two have come together along with Fixation, an already established Hard-dance night, to combine efforts to do World DJ Fund justice – the fact that respected names such as Ian M, Sterling Moss and Jon Rundell are to play for free at this event epitomises the spirit being shown by the team behind it – it is now up to you, the clubber, to pledge your support to charity – and to be entertained by some of the UK’s finest established and up and coming DJ talent in the process. Admission is only £6 with all proceeds going directly to the Nordoff-Robins Music Therapy charity. A relaxed dresscode for the evening is also in place (no tracksuits) and the club is easily accessible from the M1 (2 minutes away from Junction 25. (Detailed directions can be found on http://www.clubfixation.co.uk/directions.html). Our thanks go to all @ Fixation as without their help, none of this would be possible! As noted on our flyer, the venue is licensed as a members club. For free membership, expected attendees should leave their name, address & postcode, date of birth and telephone number on either : the recorded membership line on 0115 9461566, by texting 07736 642581 or by including their details with the Fixation web site on http://www.clubfixation.co.uk. Established hard house brands, talented / established DJ’s, a very affordable door tax, a central England location - above all, a damn good way to contribute to a very worthy charity. Hope to see you there? Regards, The HDUK Team
