Is CTW becoming more 'business' instead of 'pleasure' ?

And you are doing a great job hun - you are a good organiser and it shows with the amount of people you got to Sundissential HQ that time - we just need a central point to post all clubbing dates so that there isnt a major clash of events - like with a CTW night.

Sarah / James im back in leeds in a week or 2 hopefully ill hava load of things written up 4 u 2 peruse at ure own pace lol - got sum ideas that can sort most of the probs out - u both work and r short on time so if u like wat u see we can discuss the possibility of me taking more responsibilities, im not just talking about modding forums but a system to design where the forums are not verbose and the site has everything covererd that it needs to but not at the risk of other members leaving hopefully wen u c wat ive started writing up already ull c. btw since the accident the other nite had such bad timing in the academic year im being forced to drop these exams back to next year due to injury and lost time, therefore i have full time availabilty for CTW.

ok i can say alot to this post!

 

i think it is becoming more of a buisness purely because of the size it is!the reason why this is, is cos ive been here since it started and ive watched it grow! and i think it is becoming more of a "promotional" site rather then a "having fun" site! as for ctw merging with the dj agency thing i dont no what to think. i do think however that this probably has anoyed a few peps on here, or maybe made a few more peeps happy. i dont no what to say about that.

 

i would like to add! creamy c is totally correct! again he has been here since the start, so i no exactly what hes saying! the bord needs to be ALOT more organised! i think theres way too much bullsit posted, about peoples underwear or what buiscuits there eating and we really dont need these types of forums!!! if you look in the posts in the smutt and bolloxs forums theres probably about 20 people who actually post in there! because alot of it is a load of wank! i admit i used to post in there all the time! but i think you will all find i have stoped now! cos i cant be arsed reading through all the crap! i think that we should only have one forum for all the crap that needs posting! i also think that we can get rid of jokes and fun stuff and bung that in with random bolloxs aswell!

 

genres- i totally agree with having different sections for differnt types ie funky trance hard house etc.. and i do agree we need more sarah PVCs!

 

james- i have offered on numerouse occasions to help with the funky house section as i enjoy my funky house nights!? i have also offered to help you with answering any e mails or things you might need doing that you dont have time to do, not once in the time ive knowen you have you asked me to help or do something for you! PLEASE come to me if i can help cos i will always try and help a friend out!

 

ALSO would like to add i have knowen james longer then any of you and i KNOW he is not doing this for money! james made this site and built it up because of his love for meeting people! when it first started i hated it but now i am very proud of him, as he has put so much effort into making this site possible, he would ofen sit in bed with me working on his site till 2 or 3 am when i would be fast asleep on him, so i know just how much effor he puts into it!

 

i dont think james has ever had intetions of making money out of it! he is doing it because he enjoys it!

Clubs like Sundissential get people anyway as I've said before regardless of ClubTheWorld attendees, they're all going even before a post gets put up. Get people to a 'small' night - alot of people, one that not many people have heard of and not just 7 or 8 and then that can be called an acheivement. Organise complex arrangements, not just 'see you there at 7pm'. That can be done anytime.

And another thing, people say they are 'willing to help'. What does that mean to people, is it because they want this high and mighty position where they will organise one thing then piss off for a few weeks until something else comes along that suits them? Can I just say that if you are 'willing' to help it means working your tits off, not just getting some title so people can see how great you are. I know some people think that is the case. The Hard House side has taken off not by one person sitting on her arse waiting for it to happen, she has had to make it happen. Now theres the need to have alot more PVC's for other things - but it needs commitment.

Dont we already do that in the Events Suggestions? There are an awful lot more posts appearing covering genres such as D & B, funky, hardcore etc than there used to be plus there is going to be an official meetup at Vibelite in june.

Reading these comments i think that i might not be the most popular person on here.But can i try and explain. When we teremaed up with CTW we had know sarah for a while and were all friends. The site was getting to such a size where a lot of top nights were comming to the site asking to do lots of nights with CTW. The ida was to get it more organized so there is not too many nights goinng on. 4clubbers got in the rut of being tied to certain clubs, ie Goodgrref, Sundissential PV etc. We want to help push some of the nights that people might not have heard off, ie ignition etc. Now on the board front sarah was getting pesterd every day by DJ's wanting sets, she did not have the time to sort all that out and go on the board and arange other things. We said we would take some of the preaseure of this for her, but she is still incharge. Also another criteria of ours is to increase membership. As you can apprechiate a board does cost a lot to run, increased membership meanse increased revenue. JUST TO ADD WE ARE NOT GETTING PAID FOR ANY OF THE WORK WE ARE DOING. I know we did not handle this too well, but honestly we do want what is beast for the board.

Gilly, I don't think it is a case of people having a problem with CTW expanding into the promoting/DJing side, it is all good. I think it is more a case of the focus of the site seeming to shift more towards the promoting side, and less about the meet-ups and just having a laugh. There just seem to be a lot of people on here touting their nights, and a bit of delineation would be good.

 

I personally have no problem with this site and spinback going on to compete with Nucleuz!!

In a senece i know that a lot of promoters come on here, and i remember this same argument on 4clubbers about a yr ago. In a sence it's flattery to the site that people know about it, with the site getting bigger we can offer guestlist to site members to events and free give-a-ways. But i also apprechiate that people come on her for fun, and do not want to be bombarded with thousands of advertisments! i think we need to find a good mid-point. And also i think doing more non-club related stuff weould be good too! im i waffling?? i dunno been a long day allready! damm work!

Everyone - I'm now working with Kev as to how we can organise the meets and build on the 'community' better - including organising non-clubbing type stuff as well. Ibiza was a nightmare to organise last year, and again this year. Its clear we need to re-structure the way events are laid out and not rely on the forums so much. Forums are excellent for getting real feedback from members, but useless for adding/maintaining/finding events. I know what needs to be done in terms of the web site, I just need to get on and do it. I have a 'board of developers' now, including Scream, Colin & Tom D and we are brain-storming some ideas as we speak. The key thing is to not rush into something and then to have to change the layout/engine yet again (i've learnt this through my workplace!). I'm also doing research into existing products to see if they cater for our needs / can be customised - if they cant I am going to continue writing the whole Event Submission/Management egine from scratch. It continues to be fun & exiting but as I say its not going to be an overnight change as there is a lot to consider, but please just bare with us and try and use the forums effectively for now.

 

Kev is creating/updating new static web pages detailing clearer events/meets as we speak ...

 

As Pepsi once said "ClubTheWorld wont die, it will just evolve ..." - correct !

If we work it then so that Myself & Gilly do the DJs / promotions side of CTW and James & Kev concentrate on the members meetups etc (with an inevitable bit of cross-over) then it will mean everyone is happy.

Although me & gilly are going to be taking the stick like over things such as this!

I dont see a reason why loads of options cant be available then people have got more of an option to choose what they want. They'll be more variation on this site and that will be the difference between us and the other sites.
