CTW Members Blink Posted May 13, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted May 13, 2003 How do you uninstall Media Player? I hate it, I have PowerDVD and Musicmatch Jukebox, I want more Hard Drive space back. And I have "upgraded" messenger 4.6 to messenger 5.0, but whenever I launch outlook exprees, it launches messenger 4.6 Anyone any advice? CTW Members Mr Happy Posted May 13, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted May 13, 2003 1stly - depends what OS ur running. did manage to uninstall media player from windows Me 1nce. but i basically deleted the program files. did some fiddleing aound in the system regestry and after all that the system still didnt realise media player wasnt on it, but @ least media play didnt auto launch every bloody time i was doing ne kinda media manipulation. dont think u can actually uninstall it tho on win me/xp w/o doing it the hands on way like i did 2ndly, again to properly fix that u will ned to fiddle around with the regestry (unless theres an option in windows control panel -> 'add/remove programs' then the windows components bit) - but more simpler - i would ditch outlook express and use outlook as its far far more secure from e-mail torjens and worms Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/

CTW Members Capn Jack Posted May 13, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted May 13, 2003 I don't think you can remove Windows Media Player. You can have a prefered action when using DVD's or playing music, it just loads up the relevant program you've chosen to use (it gives you a choice upon loading a DVD, etc, just tick the bos next to the program you want to use). You can also set what types of media that WMP uses, just uncheck the ones you want other programs to use. This is found in options, file types. I use other DVD programs myself, but I do use WMP 9.0 for music, it is pretty good, worth a look. Copies CD's and you can use it to burn tracks onto CD. CTW Members Mr Happy Posted May 13, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted May 13, 2003 call me old fasioned but the best version of windows media play is the 1 that came on windows 2000 by default (version 5 i think) - i always delete the program files of media player OS' higher than 2k and put mediaplayer 5 in instead (altho its not a healthy way to do it) Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/
