CTW DJs LiamStyles Posted June 6, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted June 6, 2004 another wannabe................... My advice wud be to go to a few shops and demo different decks that suit your budget. Get a feel for them and choose the ones you are most comfortable with instead of taking others advice. Other than that, I would say depending on how serious you are about actually DJing, try your best to save up enough to get a 2nd hand set of technics from ebay or something. If you are serious about it that is. If you are and you buy a mediocre set, you'll regrett it as you will soon out grow them. CTW Members tommy Posted June 6, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted June 6, 2004 From what I've seen the cheap Numark's are nice. Just make sure you get a decent mixer. Cheap mixers start to crackle very quickly.
CTW Members tommy Posted June 6, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted June 6, 2004 QUOTE (Tresh @ Jun 6 2004, 17:10) But wot am I looking for when I demo them? Get someone you know who mixes to go with you and help you decide. You're looking for decks with a good torque (i.e. how quickly it starts spinning when you let it go), and something which loos and feels good (i.e. pitch control is good). That probably sounds like bollox to most peeps, but I think it's (half) decent advice
CTW DJs Ian Cashman Posted June 6, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted June 6, 2004 after using Ellys Numark decks last weekend, i would recommend getting some of them (whatever model they might be). i found them very good and she dint pay to much for them
CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted June 6, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted June 6, 2004 QUOTE (Tresh @ Jun 6 2004, 17:10) But wot am I looking for when I demo them? Have you got any mates with decks? I strongly recommend that you at least try out some Technics before you go shopping. If you can get a feel for what a "proper" deck is like to use (the torque, the subtlety of the pitch control, etc) then when you go to the shop and try out some other models, at least you'll be able to put them in perspective. Belt-drive decks are allegedly a no-no, though I've never tried any myself.
Guest Kether
I'd get 2nd hand decks for that sort of money and get a shitty mixer then upgrade the mixer as soon as I had the money.
