Well what do you think of this site i've been working on at work. It's for a club called Influence in Sleaford. They've got a pretty amazing line up coming up soon. Which i shall be gracing for sure. I do believe my boss is playing then too.

Well check it out. So glad to see the back of it now, even though i've still got to build the admin side.

Okies....

Gonna be brutally honest here - so good points and bad...

- Clean in most the places! Clean lines, fonts kept simple and to a minimum. The only thing I'd say on this is that things like the picture under "Best Gurn" on the front page should maybe be the same width as the header box.

- Colours are good - most things can be seen clearly. Only thing I'd add is that the slightly darker blue on heading rows in tables (news, comps, etc) can't actually be seen that clearly as darker and most people won't notice - may be fine on your 'puter but that'll be down to your brightness/contrast. Because of this there is very little "split" between content.

- The gallery's good, but it's got shitloads of pics. Took a while to load for me, and I've got a decent broadband connection... It's very looooong, and you've said to people to print them off if they're in them to get free entry. Although some peeps will know how to copy & past the pic of them, others won't. Might be better for speed, and for ease of ppl printing them to pop them on several pages.

- Table widths between menu & main column differ on different pages. For example, look at Directions & Competition pages.

- The bottom bar. On loading the page for some reason, I was expecting the rest of the pic to load... Then I realised it was only a narrow bar. At first I didn't like it, but after browsing the site, I do. Some pages though, it links right up with the end of the content in the tables in rows above, but on others it doesn't and there's a gap. Uniforming it will help consistency. Again, for an example of what I mean, look at the Directions and Competition pages.

- The front page is useful because it gives lots of information on one page (eg a welcome message, future events and news headlines). The menu, however, doesn't include a home link. Okay, so clicking on the top header bar will take people to the home page, but not everyone will work that out... A home link in the menu would simplify things for people.

- Good, clean navigation (with just the one point above) that doesn't over-complicate things.

- Overall a good, clean site! Congrats!

Don't take any of my points as negative... Just a bit of constructive criticism to help you improve on your already very good, strong work!

Cheers!

don't worry mate. was a site that wasn't expensive so a lot of things were left out for reasons. the gallery could be totally php driven but it's not because well we didn't get paid to do that. I know about the width thing on the pages compared to some but again same reason above.

aye the home thing is annoying. my boss started it and i mentioned it and he just said make the header a home link so i did.

the bottom pic with the gap that is to do wiht php being a cunt and me not being arsed to sort it, lol. I think i know why but just to busy to sort it as doing the admin section for it now.

all in all the site could have loads of things to improve it. But what was asked and paid it meets it i think shrug.gif
