CTW Members Mr Happy Posted June 7, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted June 7, 2004 a few basic questions (forgive me if its confusing, i dont know the jargon so i've stumbled though with what jargon i do know): 1) i have an 8 beat patten and i want it 1 set of fx on it in the 1st few loops, then another set of fx for another few loops. is it possible to do this w/o having to duplicate the patten each time i want a different filter on it. i've looked to see if you can set one off fx sends at set time frames, but nothing jumped out at me. 2) i want to post the higher frequences on samples. is there some kind of fx plug in that i can use? i'm guessing what i need is a 'hi-pass filter'? 3) can i set pattens to fade in/out easily? basically i want to beable to use fruity my sequencer (as i have the $150 version)aswell just a drum machine. but i'm finding all the opinions that was logically placed on my old sequencer (i was only using acid mind) hidden on fruity Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/

Yes, you want only the high frequencies so you only want those frequencies to "pass" the filter. Dont use fruity so cant really comment on the others Quote LiamStyles Bet you look good on the dancefloor *LiamStyles - mixes on rotation* Current mix "No Concept Of Time" CLICK HERE

The jargon is "automation". It's almost certainly easier to do automation on programs like Cubase. You can do automation on Fruity, but I haven't tried it myself (I'm pretty sure there's a tutorial on the website). Quick and easy solution: personally I'd recommend you just duplicate the pattern on a different channel. Select the channel and press SHIFT+CONTROL+C to 'clone' the part and all its settings. Then route the part to a different effects channel. Not ideal I know... 'fraid I'm not the authority on the sequencing side of Fruity. I just use it as a loop creator. CTW Members Mark Posted June 8, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted June 8, 2004 volume fade.. select pattern - right click on the master volume slide and go to edit event, then you draw the event in. under the tool bar it displays the time of the stage your at with that pattern and also the percentage of the volume your at. the side is 'Master' volume, but providing you have pattern selected and not song it will only write the event for the pattern that you have selected, so even when multiple patterns are playing at the same time they each follow their own volume events

Tho i think my new setup is going to be FL Studio rewired with Reason. i'll be studying cubase and reason in london - so if u need a hand give us a shout Edited June 8, 2004 by DJ_Elemental

CTW DJs Tony P Posted June 10, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted June 10, 2004 i just figured this out guys think you have to clone the pattern....seems a long way around it thou...don't it. got another (real simple) question i hope you can help with: say i've made a few loops/samples i've added fx's too and i'm happy with them, how do you save just them so you can use them in another tune you are making, surely you don't have make them again. i know there probably is a save button right infronyt of me but i can find it anywhere, only to save the whole project

CTW Members Claire DC Posted June 13, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted June 13, 2004 Laurence, if you're going to edit events as mark said then instead of doing it so it looks like steps as mark has shown, use your right mouse button to do what you need to instead of the right and it will do a cleaner line and better effect.
