have 2 disagree wiv u there dani. i work @ a busy international airport, and the amount of money grabbers that try 2 get thru immigration is appalling. we have 29 flights a week from the sub continent, and most of them claim they r here 4 a "holiday", when really they r here 2 sponge. i'm not sayin all asylum seekers r spongers, but the majority spoil it 4 the few. every other flight i work on has deportees goin bac 2 where they came from @ the expense of the airline takin them bac. it's jus not on

Well said dani, it seems a lot people don't want to think about the realities of situations like these, instead hiding behind xenophobic attitudes and misconceptions. "I pay my taxes, and what's mine is mine, and everyone else is stealing from me!"

People don't seem to realise how much freedom they have in this country, where you can say and do what you like without fear.

Do you think this website would be tolerated under an oppressive regime, with the myriad references to drugs and posts disagreeing with the current government? Do you fear for you life every time you slag off Tony Blair ? If you don't, I don't quite see how you can dismiss these people simply as free-loaders.

As I said, it seems people don't actually want to think for themselves. It's much easier to have your opinion fed to you from a newspaper and go for the easy option.

I am glad that there are people on here who aren't afraid to express their opinion, I was worried that people would keep quiet for fearing of being shouted down by the many ignorant voices on here.

i'm not a xenophobe, but isn't it time we said enoughs enoughs. the whole point of asylum is to go 2 the 1st safest country u set foot in? wot's wrong wiv france, germany,belgium,italy,austria etc? we are a soft touch, sorry

and it is said that "charity begins @ home". wot about our homeless? they sleep rough on the streets, while asylum seekers get houses, benefits, NHS care etc. we should sort our own problems out 1st

its the way u say they live off government funds when i know for a fact they get nothing from the government, and only a few are allowed work permits and those ones keep the rest in food and clothes, its bout 1 to every 5 that are allowed to work

my mate is currently about to marry a lad from kossovo, albania, they have a son and he works his ass off to keep his family.

yes i agree some off them try it but they dont get very far and are sent straight back if they break the law by working illegally which is fair enough.

but once they get in this country.....they tend to just "disappear" then we are stuck with them.

yes but they do go to these countrys also,

like i said before they are not after our sympathy but show a little empathy for them,

jus imagine you was in a country with very little, watchin your loved ones bein physically hurt or even worse it happening to you. could you live with that, would you want your family to grow up in a place like that, more than likely you will be trying to get away too.

unless the government in 99% of the countrys get there act together we are never gona live in peace!!!

if they go 2 these countries......ie france, y do they pay thousands 2 a mafia style gang 2 get them in2 this country? look @ the problems wiv the channel tunnel. and all those lorry drivers bein fined thousands of their hard earned cash.....jus coz sum sponger wants 2 desperately get in2 this country

to escape bein killed for freedom of speech and stuff like that.

like i said you will never know unless you show a bit of empathy but people these days cant even do that.

its just like me though i sponge of government i admit it, i was silly i had 3 kidsa at a young age got into a lot of trouble and at one point between my oldest 2 kids and my youngest i ended up living on the streets for bout 4 months, i dont trust strangers looking after my kids as you cant trust who they are and what will happen these days, i do blame myself for this but i also love my kids but cos thewe people are foreigners u wont give them a chance.

i've bin stood @ immigration wen the 1st words they say 2 the immigration officer is " where is social security office. i want house 4 my family" i see wot goes on every day. the papers don't. alot is printed 2 stir up hatred, but these things r happening. take the afghans who hijacked the Boeing 727 in 2000. they r now claiming compensation 4 a crime that would've had ordinary joe public locked up 4 life.

no what i mean is they come here cos we give them at least a little chance, and i meant bein killed for freedom of speech by people like the serb army and stuff like that

i feel very strongly bout all this as i have friends from there and if you got to know them as a person u would realise they are good people or some of them are really

Looks like Abas Amini wasted his time stitching his face up. The Governments appeal was rejected today. It really annoys me when people go to such measures, in an attempt to secure an outcome they want.

Its a shame that when you don't support every single asylum seekers claim, then your seen as xenophobic or ignorant. I'm sure that a small amount of asylum seekers are very genuine and need all the help they can get, but there is also a significant number of people arriving on our shores with the hope for an easy ride (Housing, money, etc).
