CTW Admin Clubbing Si Posted May 31, 2003 CTW Admin Share Posted May 31, 2003 those of u who like both... wats ure fav of each. just interested to see if a correllation matches mine. i mean - i like Full Metal (RR fierce) as a super hard tune and The Legacy (Push) as a chill out tune, and 1 is hard as fook and 1 is really chilling. just curios if every1 is like this, or if people like harder trancy tunes to match their hardhouse affinity. CTW DJs Ian Cashman Posted May 31, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted May 31, 2003 i always find that trance always sounds a lot harded in a club anyway, its just not as fast.. hard house just becomes harder because the kick drums are so loud in the mix... i do like some hard house, but its only ever the odd tune that makes me think.. wow, this is fooking wikid.. thers one stand out hard house tune for me at the mo, and i asked what it was when i was at sunny d, and nobody knew, which was kinda odd i thought, cos it was the only tune that stood out the whole time...hehe
CTW Members Phil rr Posted May 31, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted May 31, 2003 tricky eh? trance, plastic angel - pascale is currently a long time fave of mine..hard...not sure. loads of chords and euphoric. crisp bass drums Hard....POS 51? i like my hard stuff like that - crisp and bitty (sort of ilogiky who i thinks fcuking quality and want to see more of, damn good excuse for sundis i fink ) - ie the OPPOSITE of picotto In between...organ donors in power -hard trancy with a melody, doesn't just bang i don't like 'classic' hard house tho - boings and hoovers

'Classic' hardhouse is 140bpm tribal tech-house that used to be played by Dave Randall, Tony De Vit, Steve Thomas etc. The doinky stuff is just slowed down happy hardcore and was horrible music
CTW Members Phil rr Posted May 31, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted May 31, 2003 ur probably right, the sort of stuff i mean is like andy farley - out of control (12" thumper rmx) (not got a lot of the style since i dont like it:) )and it's got the boings and vvvts that i really dont like maybe it's only 'classic' in my head and i've just been listening to other stuff in the past 12 months =)

However it's easy to see how the plethora of condescending, hoover-driven, derivative hardcoresque nonsense has become regarded as "classic" hard house, as (sadly) that has been the most successful style over the last few years (think of the most commercial labels like Nukleuz and Tidy). In fact "140bpm tribal tech-house" is probably a very good description of the sort of hard house I do like - dark, techy and rhythm-orientated, and less of the cheese. Unfortunately they don't make many "100% tribal tech-house anthems" CDs! House music is very polarised - most labels tend either towards the slower/funkier end of things or the faster/harder end, so it's much harder to find music in between. CTW Moderators Maria Posted June 4, 2003 CTW Moderators Share Posted June 4, 2003 I liek both. My Fav hardhouse tune is Hostile, and my Fav Trance tune is Symphony Of Strings - Don;t Want Your Love AND 4 strings - 'let it rain'. I started off in the clubbing scene, introduced by Trance. Loved it for at least 2 years untill I ventured into a hardhouse club. Then, well, I wouldnt necessarily say "went off" trance, but just had a bit more love for hardhouse. I have a shitload of trance music that Iv bought over the past 3 years but don;t listen to HARDLY any of it anymore. But since going to Wildchild and being in the trance room there where I loved it, and having recieved some qwality CDs off Modular 1, Im liking it again. I don;t listen to hardhouse ALL the time, I do still have the time to listen to some BOOM trance I have on CD and MP3. Sometimes when i come home from work and im stressed il listen to trance, otherwise its hardhouse on the decks! But overall, I love hardhouse more than I love my trance, but will ALWAYS go to bed with a trance cd in the CD changer..Don't diss trance. err yeh. You get my point.
