One of life's mysteries explained

I have been mystified that in all the times I have been to the Land of the Rising Sun, no matter what the weather, even if it is sunny with a chill wind in the air... not once have I spied an erect nipple poking seductively against a woman's top.

Compare this to the unbelievable pertness of the Western woman's breast at this time of year and you will understand why I was confused.

Having only a few experiences of oriental love I was not willing to generalise too much, but wondered whether the oriental nipple behaved in a different manner. However, subsequent internet 'research' shows categorically that propensity to erection is much the same as in the West...

Well today whilst walking down the steet I suddenly realised why nipple erections were nowhere to be seen...

Padded bras!!!

That is all.

Thank you.

I can't comment on Japanese ladies, but from my (limited) experience of Eastern women, the only difference in nipple is the colour!

I am very naive and often am fooled into thinking that men prefer looking at women's faces rather than their chests. So from now on I shall be wearing a sack at all times.

Either that, or I shall start walking around staring nipples too, and then perhaps one day I shall discover just what it is which is so fascinating about them wink.gif

And finally, does anyone know why men have nipples too?! I still don't get this unsure.gif

i wont deny that given the choice between a womans breasts and her face, i would rather look at her breasts. its basic instinct after all.

doesnt mean i cant or wont look a girl in the face when i'm chatting to her mind wink.gif

because all fetus' are female.

But I thought males have XX chromosomes, and females have XY chromosomes - The first 'X' is carried in the egg whereas the second 'X' or 'Y' is carried in the sperm, so i would've thought gender was decided at conception unsure.gif

(I think I retained information from GCSE biology slightly too well)

yeah you are right, anotomically speaking we(as men) are psysiologically similar to a female, but i am afraid jessica is also correct are gender is chosen even bofore we actually reach the womb,

Until about 14 weeks human fetuses pretty much look the same regardless of gender.

Hormones begin to take effect after 14 weeks (long after the nipples have formed) and the fetus grows to resemble which sex the chromosomes dictate.

Interestingly, or not, mammals fetus' look a like from conception to a few weeks into growing.

Blame early evolution of mammals for men and their nipples.

not entilrely true:

males are XY (hence why some of genetic disorders (like himophilia sp?) are dominant in men - the lack of the 4th 'leg' in the chromosomes). women are XX.

i was being a bit simplistic when i said that all fetus' are female. obviously gender is desided at conception, but its not till some weeks later that the male hormone is triggered.
