Last year I took a few (about 20) records with me in a record bag as hand luggage.

This year I intend to take about 50 -60 with me as hand luggage, in my record bag, and try and bluff it. If I can't then I'll have to pay excess.

I worked as a baggage handler for 3 months when I was at uni - and having done it I would NEVER put mine in the hold of a plane. They get bashed about loads. I have a box, and I'm considering taking it - and I'll be insured, but the point is, if they lose them, I'm F*CKED.

So not 100% sure what I'll do yet. I'll ask Gary for one smile.gif

if you fly with BMI baby you'll get charged loads, i paid 130 excess last yr for a 27.50 flight, never again. banghead.gif my advice is put your records in your suitcase but put em in hmv plastic bags n spread it out between your clothes, this will kepp the records tight together n spread the weight about, out of the last 4 times i've flown to ibiza with about 100 records i've only paid excess once.

Yeah, but it'll still weigh the same no matter how you spread it out. My advice is don't take any clothes.

I played in Greece 2years ago and I put my records in the hold in my flight case and alot in my hand luggage but didnt have to pay any charge(Which most DJs seemed to do when I was there) however my flight case did get wrecked, someone tryed to break into it(But didnt manage it thankfully!) this year when Dave and I go to Ibiza Ithink were going to put most of the unvital one in a flight case inside a fully padded box and taped up, then put the rest in my record bag as hand luggage and in my suit case. yay.gif

Whenever ive flown out to Germany and that Ive never had any problems. I have always put a pro-box in the hold with a padlock on it. And took a big record bag (UDG) on as handluggage.

When asked, i just told them i was DJing over there and they were pretty cool about it. No excess baggage cost

Never been out to Ibiza with records but have flown out to spain before and had no probs.

UDG bags are well padded so even if it has to go in the hold, just make sure you have a decent padlock on the zips and it'll be fine.
