CTW Members Tresh Posted June 22, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted June 22, 2003 I refuse to go to places where I have to wear shoes and trousers. If I can't get in wearing a pair of Diesels and Nike Rift then I ain't goin to it. Quote My teenage daughter has been kidnapped, and the people I work with may be involved in both. CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted June 23, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted June 23, 2003 Agreed. I have no problem with dress codes. Personally I quite like putting on a smart comfy shirt to go out; I resent the implication that I may be perceived as some kind of poser or beer boy. There are a lot of people who never grow out of the adolescent "I refuse to be told what to do" mentality. Having said that, I do prefer to wear smart trainers for a long evening of dancing, so I think there's a happy medium.

I've tried that 'casual walk around the house' look and its shite and scruffy. CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted June 23, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted June 23, 2003 Can someone explain the term "try-hard" please? (In the context of dress codes.) Does it mean 1. Make a bit of an effort (smart but "normal" clothes), or 2. Outrageous fancy dress (e.g. cyber)? Or something else?
