CTW Members Rob D Posted July 3, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted July 3, 2003 I built myself a Roland 303, using the original roland chips and a circuit board fom oakley sounds, produces awesome analogue baselines, but due to its analogue nature always breaks down!! 303's are still the way forward though. CTW Members Rob D Posted July 7, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted July 7, 2003 Re: modular: Its an opinion, so dont be so harsh, it depends what music you are making. We can't all afford andromeda's and viruse's, and the nice analogue sound i get out of the 303 i put together suits me fine, especially considering the price it cost to put together. Acid Techno and Acid Trance are generally immaculatly produced due to (what I would guess, from you comment) the simplicity of equipment used.... Just because its only a simple piece of hardware doesnt mean it cant do great things - look at how simple guitars are.....yet when played well they are incredible!!!! I just know what I like, and 303's make awesome riffs for tracks!
CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted July 7, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted July 7, 2003 They make predictable riffs. Then again you could say that kick drums are predictable! I think 303s are old hat, but there are loads of cliched sounds that I've never tired of - bongos, bass guitars, scratching ...
