Has the community spirit gone on CTW?

Another point is that i am based up here in leeds so obviously get to know about a lot more nights up here that i can push djs towards, the prob there is that a lot of promoters up here wont pay for more than travel expenses. I have asked Tony several times if he can come & play up here but he (quite rightly so) wants his costs covering etc, is that me not pushing him???

 

And as i've said a hundred and one times before, as long as i'm not out of pocket (which becomes very expensive) i'd gladly play for expenses.

so where is the problem then??

Do i get any bookings then, as i was informed it worked on a round-robin basis, which doesn't appear to be the case at all.

 

 

I also dont believe in chasing after djs - if they want to play badly enough they should be doing the chasing.

 

But how are we surposed to know what gigs you have on offer??

 

 

I've not made any of these comments to start a war, i just feel they need addressing as it seems to concern alot of people i've spoken too.

 

 

And Guy, none of this was meant to be dirrected at anyone, these are just my views and i'm not trying to dictate the way things should be. Take Guffy for example, with 4clubbers backing him he has become a resident of FRANTIC, now thats what we should be striving for i think. I'm not saying it should be me, just saying that the site should back a few dj's instead of every DJ on the planet. I feel you are a vital part of clubtheworld and you should definately be credited for that.

As you PMd me before though when i asked if you could play for us at Incision you replied that it would be very expensive for me as i would have to pay your travel costs & hotel bill. As promoters of new nights will agree with me here - we are barely breaking even at the start, if we suddenly make some money i will be able to afford you. AS it is at the moment we have DJs such as GRH & Kutski playing for free, i couldnt justify (as hard as it sounds) to the others to pay your expenses when you arent known up here in leeds.

To get yourself known up here as you are down in London you may have to be prepared to foot the bill of travelling yourself or promoters just arent going to book you.

 

But how are we surposed to know what gigs you have on offer??

 

er - maybe an email / pm once a week asking would suffice? Ive got enough to do without chasing after everyone who i assume wants to play. Andy Whitby calls me every other day to see whats going on & if im gonna let him play somewhere - can you not do the same to take some of the responsibilty?

The last booking he had from you was a complete cock up, we had sorted out transport etc only to be told when Tony phoned, that he was no longer playin as there had been a [censored] up.... meaning we had cancel our mode of transport which we had sorted to share with another London based DJ, leaving him then stuck!!!

Im pin-pointing cos it was him that brought up the issue in the first place & i am also sick of hearing other members having a go as well saying im neglecting him - like whats the problem with calling me every week to see if ive got any bookings for him? The others do it so why cant he? At the end of the day i dont have to do any of this so why should i take sh** for it?

As for the other so called f*** up that you said was made by me??? - that had absolutely nothing to do with me so please get facts right before having a dig. That was purely a spinback booking made by Gilly & Butch that i had no knowledge of in the first place so i suggest you take it up with them & not me!

The mention of CTW DJ's was not brought up by Tony, look on page one of this thread... Im not going out of my way to dig at you Sarah, sure you work hard, your last night proved that, no-one is saying anyone is being neglected, Tony appreciates the offers you have made etc, but as you said yourself on occasion it does work out very cost effective...

Tony would love to be able to play every oppotunity, but to get from A to be, when you do not have a car is a pain & expensive!!, however the way things look we should be getting a car soon which will make it a whole lot easier!!

LMD & Tony P - I know how you both feel, it's not pleasant when your let down, but unfortunately these things happen - nothing ever runs smoothly in this world!

 

Sarah - I also know how you feel, it's not easy trying to run a night anywhere in the country ESP when some of your DJ's are travelling a long way to play, but perseverance is the key, dont let things get on top of you or wind you up so that you feel like giving up, I'm only 20 miles away and if you need anything please give me a shout, I think you've still got my number

 

If the situation arose of someone needing somewhere to stay, I have no doubt my mother wouldn't object to someone using the spare room at ours!

personally i think ctw spirit has not gone anywhere!!!

 

it may have in some places but ctw is still doin what it was made 4.....

Diablo its not ment to sound or be a personal attack on anyone, Tony just made a few valid points ref community spirit on CTW, which I feel he said without pointing at anyone in particular, it was not an aim at anyone just a generalization/example & now it as you say has turn into a spit comp, which is not what he or I want!!

 

Maybe as there at present is only one banner & is expensive to print a second, why not as an proposition all DJ's members & ask if they want to, poss donate towards another being made?? idea is all!!

I'm just trying to keep the peace, and i didn't intend for my comments to sound like people were having a dig at each other.

 

The way i look at this post now is -

I just get a little fed up with personal attacks and it isnt the first time ive been told Tony isnt happy because im not getting him gigs.

I realise everyone has expenses to cover but sometimes you have to speculate to accumalate. It is extrememly hard to get any of the promoters to put djs on from other areas such as down south cos no1 has heard of them up here. The only way they will do it is by saying they can play for free.

I know Tony has costs to cover so thats the reason i dont ask him when im offered a gig up here.

Its hard for me to get gigs for djs in other areas as well as i simply do not have the knowledge of whats on & where.

If djs were to email me a list of places they would like to play at & possibly a contact number / email i would be more than happy to try & get them a gig there. I just dont have the time to properly research other areas.

Maybe the solution is to have a northern dj agent & a southern. Someone who knows whats going on down there that can use the site if necessary to get djs work??

As for the banner - thats a top idea - i need people like you Miss Diddy to come up with ideas for things like that more often - anyone wanting to contribute to having another banner made would be top - i havnt even been able to afford to pay for the one ive already had made yet.
