Andy Whitby phones me every other day to ask about gigs etc - i dont have to time to 'chase' djs up & see if they would like to play. If someone is on my case all the time im much more likely to bare them in mind for a forthcoming set. Would be a lot different if this is my full time job but it isnt - i just dont have the time to promote djs as i would like to do. I have a full time job plus promoting for other clubs & time is something i would like a lot more of Sarah maybe becos of the points youve made about being busy etc, is the reason some or most dj's dont pester you as they feel that they are being annoying maybe!! agreed... id rather people on here see me as a clubbing m8 rather than a dj, but i have abslolutely NO outlet for my DJing and mix CDs other than CTW.. i try not to push my DJing in peoples faces, cos i find it annoying too when people do it.. i try and keep it in the ONE thread that i keep up to date in the dj section. i wish i could keep people regularly updated with cds, but it becomes really expensive. id rather spend my cash on going out to MEMBER MEETUPS(!!!) ive lost track of how many times ive been out to nights that i have no interest in to see people that ive met on here... but when i do go out i like to try and bring some cds with me to give out for 3 reasons 1>to give freinds a pressie 2>to promote my djing in the cheapest easiest way possible 3>to hopefully get people to come to a trance night meetup (even if ya aint into it... ive made the effort!!) I personally think you should push your talents as a producer more as i think you have got what it takes. If that means being annoying though then so be it. I would much rather help you all i can than someone who i never think is gonna get anywhere. I just need to be pushed into getting things done or being reminded to do things though! No, its not an official ClubTheWorld meet-up. An official ClubTheWorld meet-up is something specifically organised by ClubTheWorld Members. I've gotta agree... But think there needs to be several different type of CTW member meets... - A proper, more rare, CTW member meet - organised either by someone like CreamyC/James *or* someone in conversations with/with the approval of CreamyC/James. (CreamyC is the Meet-Up Manager). These events shouldn't be too often, say every 3 - 6 months. Something people can save up for/look forward too. These should be well publicised on the boards, with pre-meet-up frenzy and something a bit special. May be clubbing based or may not. May even be a weekend that involves clubbing if people want to. - A member-led CTW member meet - organised by anyone who happens to be a member of the community (or even a group of members). They put the suggestion forward, let people know, and run it. Again, may or may not involve clubbing. Not an "officially sanctioned" event by James/CreamyC, but a member-led event non-the-less. This may encourage different localities to get together and start to get to know each other or build on existing friendships. It will also make it easier for newcomers to join in and feel welcomed. I think, to a degree, this is already starting to happen - especially in London, Leeds and Brum - let's spread the philosophy. - A on-the-spur meet-up in a club. Last minute/largely unplanned, where people decide to go and do something. Similar to a member-led meet up above, but with much less planning. What are peoples thoughts? CTW Promotors CreamyC Posted June 27, 2003 CTW Promotors Share Posted June 27, 2003 Once the relevant page has been set up, member meet-ups will go up on the sub front page and people will have links to click onto to confirm their attendance, the person who initiated the post / idea / meet-up will be asked if they want to take full control of this, if so then they will be the main contact and that will be specified on the main page. ANYONE can organise meet-ups, the only thing that needs to be done is put on the front page so we can make it easier for new / existing members to see whats going on. The board is not good for this as its hard to keep tabs on whos going / whos not etc. This will be done very soon. CTW Members Bukey Posted June 27, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted June 27, 2003 'Tis a good idea to separate both the "ad" type events and meetups away from the forums - and good to see it's all already happening! I think allowing people to confirm their attendance is a great one too. Looking forward to seeing all this! Guest
Wouldn't it be easier to organise meet ups for specific area's? EG - Each month, each area (London/Leeds/Manchester etc) organise a meet up once a month, every month for members from each area to meet up, James - could a messaging service be set up on the site to message people in that specific area to remind them of the meet up? Good idea yes but it was the intention from the very start. London used to have one once a week but has now changed to two-weekly which works well, Leeds / Manchester etc should have one once a month ?!?! because its not as easy to organise one as it is in London and the South East. Surely this should be member-driven... Some areas will have more of a want/need than others - it'll also be driven by critical mass in any given area. Because of this, it'll probably be best for members for any given area themselves to drive the bulk of organising meets. As for the messaging side, I suppose that would be a good idea. In fact, what may be a suggestion to have is an additional "location" field in the profile. I know there is one already, but that gets used for all kinds of things. If the new location field had a drop-down selector, so people could choose a specific area, and maybe allow searches on people by area... Organisers of meet ups could then target PM a set part of the country... But I think we're maybe getting a bit ahead of ourselves and running before we can walk... I look forward to seeing some of the ideas already spoken of first.
