well we all know that certain events happen regularly, like frantic say or logic!! why not put a pole up asking which peeps would prefer & take it from there!!!

 

If peeps are keen on meet ups then they will come regardless, its called convo & feed back!!

The whole point of all this was to set up regular REGIONAL meet-ups either every month or every 3 monthly. Its nothing new, it has just not been implemented as yet - apart from London.

Mod1, as Sarah says you should be pushing yourself more on here - people like you have the respect and following of the ctw members and it will never be an issue with them/us how much you promote yourself.

 

I personally think you should have more posts on your CDs - you dont have to lump them into one mate if you dont want to - up to you - then again you get a higher visibiliy rate keeping that one thread updated as you can tell by the number of views its one of the most viewed threads

So many people have come and gone, say they'll be organising this and that and pissed off so forgive me if I dont take people too seriously, as James as pointed out you need a good few months before you can fully trust people.

Agreed, messaging would be a great idea - only last wednesday Kev's manual SMSing to members proved that this works as many who wouldnt have turned up did turn up - not everyone checks the board regularly. I did try to look into the SMS service before and the fees were quite high / not worth it - perhaps I need to revisit - Bukey, any ideas on SMS via the web/database ?

Agreed, the current free-text field is really no good as its abused. I have deffo got it on the list to get a combo box put in. This info is also useful for profiling etc.. I think the profiles in general need expanding upon/customising clubbing wise

Agreed that the frequency of meets should be a lot less frequent and better planned - that way more will save and ensure they are they for it and our events will go down in history, rather than just being another 'average' meet.

 

I do think Kev and I need to target one new area / member group a month though if we are to expand quickly - but these are more promotional 'tours' / welcoming the members we've not met yet ...

well look at jays biffday event, the list is growing nicely!! yup its his birthday, but its also a chance for members to meet up aswell & I for 1 am looking forward to as iv not met most that are on the list!! now as far aas I can see that didnt take much to organize did it!!

YES, this is the concept of the ClubTheWorld Rep tried & failed many times before but currently trying to find them again. There is a list somewhere of 'clubs/contacts' by area but we need dedicated REPS.

 

Finding people who will put in effort / their money for nothing is difficult - hence why i'm trying to find ways of generating revenue through advertising so we can pay promoters/reviewers/interviewers/news writers etc.. and become far more professional.

 

Would be nice to have us/the members doing this stuff however to keep that community feel.

The big thing for this is cost.... I can certainly do it - and even pretty cheaply (the server @ my house > my phone line > message centre > mobiles)... *But* it's making sure it's not abused.

 

A targetted PM messaging service would be a good first step... SMS can be done, but it would require authorisation, I think, for each SMS sent to ensure costs don't go silly... And only to those who are marked as deinate for an event - not maybe's or whatever....

As iamhardhouse said elsewhere, the profiles section can offer sooooo much - both to the further development of the site, and also other users... I know you've got a lot on at the moment though...

Personal SMS'n is not a problem at the moment, it can be done manually not a problem, sort out more important things first.
