TDV RIP!

It was on this day 2nd July, 5 years ago that the late, great Tony De Vit passed away, god rest your soul Tony, you were and always will be a god among men!

Tony de Vit has been my idol and inspiration since 1995. He had this special way of being able to make each individual clubber feel like he was playing the tracks especially for them, causing a chain reaction and turning the atmosphere into raw electricity. It was almost like you could see it, touch it! He was no pigeonhole DJ, breaking down boundaries between all types of dance music, fusing and mutating like some kind of power-crazed scientist. Taunting them and taking them one level further until they were literally begging and screaming for more, then just when they thought storm had turned, in streams the crescendo and suddenly it all makes sense — this guy behind the decks is playing tough, he’s telling a story and he’s playing straight from the heart, and this was what made Tony stand out in my eyes. I’ve lived by these values since the first day I put record to platter, and I have made a solemn promise to myself that I always will.

Definately a quality post, Carl.

Tony de Vit - a great man - who's left a great legacy and still continues to shine happiness into peoples hearts five years after he was taken from this life. Through his music he still inspires, he still gets clubbers, DJs and music appreciaters going. And through that he raises money for charity to bring hope into lives of others.

Tony de Vit, sincerest thanks for all you have brought to me and all others - on the gay scene, on the hard dance scene and through the charities that your name now supports.

Rest In Peace. rip.gif

one of my mates met and spoke to tony de vit and he reckoned he was one of the rudest, up his own arse wankers he had ever met (i distictly remember him laughing when he heard the news)

i personally just think hes a loada fuss over nothing...

tdv - global underground - tel aviv??? what a pile of [censored]

he wrote some so-so tunes of his own and ruined a load of old german trance records with his remixes..(thats his only legacy i can see thats still present in the scene today)

Marmion 'shoeneberg'....leave it alone!!

i remember this label prolekult starting up, years ago and me and my mates were dead chuffed cos they started licensing german trance records that were realy hard to get hold of over here... but they just has all these [censored] remixes by tdv and baby doc, john the dentist on them...the only decent mixes were by red jerry (who in my eyes gets much more respect for all he has done since!!! Hooj Tunes went in the right direction!)

I remember this new style being called Hardbag (as opposed to all the Handbag (nightcrawlers and all that [censored], that was around about the same time), and being played in only gay clubs at the time....

it was fooking lame... still is... i cant understand where all this god worship comes from, cos in my eyes the bloke didnt really do anything special... hes just one of the only british 'superstar' djs who has died....

imagine if someone like sasha, digweed or pete tong died..

then you might have someone with some kinda legacy worth shouting about... but tdv??? think not

his family must be skint or something... time to fleece the younguns who have no idea.... if tony had anything about him i personally believe he would be turning in his grave at the scene 'he created(???)' laugh.gif
