I do still like i don't care tho but the mix that every1 rants on about is a remix by paul janes. and the original mix isnt even hard house! i've not heard the original mix admittedly, but i've heard from lots off diff sources that the original is trance The original is about as much a hardhouse tune, as the national anthem is..... CTW Members Mr Happy Posted July 3, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted July 3, 2003 and i've always said i found the remix as boaring as [censored] i've not get nething against TDV myself, i just think his over rated and wouldnt be held in the same esteam he is now if he was still alive. death did to him the same as what its been known to do to some of the famous painters/sculptures/etc out there. CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted July 3, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted July 3, 2003 Yeah, but many of these famous painters/sculpturers will still be heralded a century from now. Most people will be laughing at that crappy old hard house sound in five years.
CTW DJs David Timothy Posted July 3, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted July 3, 2003 right im gonna say my piece now after u lot rambeling on lol. as i said before- This thread most of it is utter bollox and when i read this it makes me upset tony de vit was such a lovely man down to earth and kind hearted iv spoke to him on several occations i seen every set he did at ark (leeds uni) the last ever ark he played an amazing set and that was the last time i saw him this man is a legend and i was invited to his on many occations after ark! long live tdv REST IN PEACE LOVE YA XXXXX the main 1 i think is im sure not many of u lot will have seen tdv play, i may be wrong! iv seen him play about 17 times not gonna name them all though as iv forgot most i seen him play at- ark about 3 times he used to play on a bank holiday ark, trade about 7 times, sundissential at uropa twice , im sure i saw him play at gatecrasher summer ball but not 100%, chuff chuff, planet godskitchen and many others and id just like to say every set was spot on! Id also like to say everything that carl nicholson has said is spoy on from him djing and that all his sets used to tell a story and each 1 came from his heart. Id also like to say i never classed tony de vit as hardhouse dj i know ur all thinking what but in the days of 94-97 the music was not hardhouse it was just dunno just dance i guess but then it all changed and he was linked with hardhouse yes ok he did rip some german stuff off but boy he did it good . regarding fergie well all im gonna say is why the [censored] after all tdv did for u why has ur music changed? i bet he is lookin down on fergie and thinking cunt! i may be wrong but thats my thoughts i bet tdv would rather fergie still be playing hardhouse than the stuff he is now saying. regarding that fergie is still very good at what he does, i just feel he should have keeped playing hardhouse. next is the gay thing as we all know hardhouse to me started on the gay scene trade and remember when sundissential had the gay tag???? they was the days gay safe place i know it still is but never says on flyers anymore but i guess there is no need. all i can say here is SUNDISSENTIAL CLUB EUROPA LEEDS! next thing is tidy trax which im not gonna go into much detail as i think both good and bad things from there 1 which is of cause they are still making money out of him and yes the trade room at last tidy weekender is sick not that i was there but from what i hear there was no need. The good thing is yea they have re- released his stuff which is good for new djs to get hold of next thing is his remixes- ant & dec, louise, east 17 and so on thses remixes are all [censored] ace and to come from a dj on a different scene to pop is amazing u dont see this anywhere else do u??? thats another thing that made him unique. this is all im saying i could say miles more oh and another thing if uv heard mix cds of tdv just think about the day when he played that set! it would have been ace then but now the music has changed so much that the tunes on the mixes are bound to sound not that good me personaly i love every set iv heard of him . long live tdv he is a legend and will never be forgotten ! Erm, fergie was playing trance when TdV brought him over.... you cant class Fergie as ever being a 'full on hardhouse DJ' anymore then you can Tony De Vit... If fergie wants to play Techno, Trance or 70s disco classics, then its his call, nobody elses!!
CTW DJs David Timothy Posted July 3, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted July 3, 2003 iv never classed tony de vit as hardhouse but fergie yes im not saying what he should play or not just saying bet tdv would have prefered him to be playing hardhouse

You get your medal for having met him. But this doesn't mean we should respect him as a DJ or producer! Neither does the fact he's dead! regarding fergie well all im gonna say is why the [censored] after all tdv did for u why has ur music changed? Can someone explain this to me? Why is somebody a "cunt" for changing their style? I don't know about you but my tastes have continually changed over the last 8 years since I got into dance music, and I don't doubt they will continue to change! I've never understood the "selling out" label that people bandy around. If a DJ continues to play a certain style of music after they've gone off it, that is selling out. next thing is his remixes- ant & dec, louise, east 17 and so on thses remixes are all [censored] ace and to come from a dj on a different scene to pop is amazing u dont see this anywhere else do u??? Yes you do. Tilt, Fatboy Slim, BT, Sasha, etc have all remixed pop tunes (those are just off the top of my head). i love every set iv heard of him Fair enough, each unto their own. I hope his live sets were better than his mix CDs and own productions. Oh dear, I thought it was only 14-year old girls who exhibited this kind of behaviour towards boy bands! Fergie was recognised by TdV as being a versatile DJ because of his ability to change the style he played, depending on the club he played at, and manage to pull it off.... Fergie has NEVER BEEN A HARDHOUSE DJ to the extent where every gig would be a fullon hardhouse set... Hell, his first ever England gig finished with 'Cafe Del Mar' which isnt exactly a hardhouse anthem is it?

At the end of the day, DJs who play stuff they believe in deserve far more respect then those who only play whats currently the 'trendy thing' to be playing
