The whole point, in my opinion, of doing a cover or sampling a big part of an old tune is to improve on the original, whilst fitting it into a new genre. All the efforts lately have been on the backlash of a few that got in the charts, so the dollar signs appeal to many. They take half a day to make and kerching, Ministry will sign it to the lastest clubbers guide. Think of something original to do, or [censored] off and give us "true" producers a chance. CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted July 3, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted July 3, 2003 I'll make an exception for artists who remix a tune that would otherwise have been ignored. E.g. I love Basement Jaxx's "Bingo Bango", even though it is almost completely nicked! But I never would have heard the tune if it hadn't been for them... The original is just as good a tune, but the BJ version has better production and works better in a club.
CTW DJs DJ Elemental Posted July 3, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted July 3, 2003 i've done a rip off, one which will soon be sent to UK and German trance labels. its a flip & fill style cover of Elton Johns - Can you feel the love tonight vocalist approched me asked me to do it so i did, else i wouldn't of bothered, infact i wouldn't of even thought about doing a cover of it Quote http://bos.abavagada.net/oddfiles/djelementalonline.jpg

CTW DJs Guyster Posted July 4, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted July 4, 2003 Well there's a house remix coming out of an ELton John track (I kid you not) that "blew up in Miami" (always suspicious of this) but it's coming out in Aug. Jesus.* * I reserve the right to totally deny I said this if it's an ace track Quote WiLDCHiLD - where spacehoppers and pom poms rule
