Now why can't all remixes be this creative? Yeah - the remix is [censored] amazing!!!!! For creative remixes.... Lab4 remix of 'See No Evil', Jon The Dentist remix of 'Stuck On A Space Trip' and the Zen Terrorists "supreme Being" remix of 'Real Good' are all absolutly incredible examples of how hard-dance (what a wank term that is!) can actually be respectably created!! CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted July 8, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted July 8, 2003 people who like hard house may not think int an "unimaginative remix" i think a lot of it is down to if u like the genre or not as to if u like the remix!! I think anyone can see a remix is a load of bollocks if all they've done is speed it up by 10bpm and change the bassline a bit. That's not a remix, it's a piss-take cash-in! This is nothing to do with whether I prefer hard house or trance or whatever. There's no reason why you can't write a good hard house remix of a trance tune. But what we're saying is, at the moment there seems to be a disproportionate number of crappy unimaginative hard house rip-offs of trance tunes. A spate of talentless producers who think that speeding something up makes it more "banging".
CTW DJs Guyster Posted July 8, 2003 Author CTW DJs Share Posted July 8, 2003 Yep - exactly what I was on about. I'm not saying that HH is worse or better than trance/techno/house/prog etc. All I'm saying is that, at a time when HH is getting a rep for trawling out a lot of bootlegs and remixes of 'classics' (be it house or trance) not all of which are good, it'd be better to see a fresh injection of music rather than re-hashes. The problem is, just as many great new records are coming out as well, but these remakes are getting a disproportionate amount of (bad) press. It can only be bad for the scene, so in a sense they're making a rod for their own back. And jonm, I know a lot of house uses samples from old disco/funk/soul tracks, but unlike the trance/house records used in the hard dance bootlegs at the moment, people don't recognise most of them. Only people who are familiar with stuff from 15 or 20 years ago will see it in house, but the remakes of tunes that were only out a few years ago are more "obvious" as everyone knows what they are. Therefore they get a lot more attention, therefore imho are bad for the scene (even, in some cases, when they are very good). In a similar post on a another board, I jokingly mentioned 5 of my favourite trance/house tracks, wondering when they would be remixed for the HH scene. I was slightly depressed to learn that ALL of them had already been done, some more than once. Sad. I see, sorry i missed ur point last night, tho i was tired but yes i agree there that there are some producers just wantin to make a fast £ out of "remixing" other tunes, but at the end of the day if no1 was to buy them then they wouldnt do it as they would get nothing from it, obviously some people out there do like them!! Again comes down to opinion, but now i see ur point Quote You Can Never Have Too Much Of A Good Thing It'd Be Rude Not 2!! *I Need A Tissue* MSN: Claire___DC @hotmail.com Email: clairedc @ dsl .pipex .com

CTW DJs Tony P Posted July 10, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted July 10, 2003 I agree with you Guy, but still nice to hear some melodies of classic tunes in a hard dance environment. But most of these bootlegs are dreadful. any idea where i could get hold of Heaven Scent (the original of course)
CTW Members Simon_C1562626685 Posted July 10, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted July 10, 2003 right, i've not heard this remix (or much if karims tunes to be honest). But was just wandering if this has actually been relased officially and is it being sold. Or has karim just made this for using himself?
