right, lets get all this sorted shall we, first of all i think everyone who jumps on my back about this emix should first read the lab 4 press release about the remix, which should give you the facts about why this remix has happened etc, and lab 4's aims from it.

 

yes it would have been nice to do a 'different' remix, but also i dont think there is ANY way of improving candyman without totally changing it, if i totally changed it then people would jump on my back about ruining the tune. as Chris said i was in a no win situation really, well lab 4 were impressed with what i did, and thats the important thing to me. At the end of the day every producer is gonna get called names and slated, because its just the way it is but rather than make assumptions i would rather people looked up the facts first.

I was a little puzzled more than anything. Couldnt understand the reasoning behind such a remix. But it seems that you hold Candyman as a special tune to yourself. And therefore feel kind of honoured to have been asked to do the mix??

As i said in an earlier post I wasnt going to pass judgement on either yourself or Lab4.

 

At the end of the day, if you are happy within yourself with the finished product then thats all that matters.

 

Would you have liked to have done a totally different mix aswell? just to see what came of it.

of course i was honoured, and [censored] scared at the same time, so all the slating hasnt come as a surprise, and to be honest ive had more positive feedback from the people i was expecting to slate it the most!

but surly its a bit feeble to say u didnt want to totally re-write the tune incase die-hards didnt like the tune?! if they didnt like it then they dont have to buy it

 

i personally dont c the point in remixing sumthing so it sounds sooo close to the original just because u were told to. but at the end of the day its ur job and ur reputation on the line.

 

i never pretended to like ur stuff from the start so by the looks of it u've not tarnished ur reputation

 

 

 

1 point i will make tho (kinda in guyvers deffence, but not specifically) - surely a producers reputation is on the overal standard of his work - not the work of his latest tune

I think the point being made by Guy is that he IS one of the die-hard fans of the original! It could have been so easy to make a complete mess of the remix, but as said before, I thinking by simply making it more accessible for DJ use he has done the job Lab4 should have (since all their tracks are made for their Live PA's and until recently, they havent been very dj-friendly...)...

I really can't see why ppl are making such a massive deal out of this...Guy's job is to produce tracks...he was told what to do and he did it...can't see any harm in that..And above all he did a remix which complimented the original...and this makes it mroe accessible....and how can that be a bad thing ?

 

I agree with this... c'mon guys (hehe - sorry ) surely to god its up to Guy if he does the remix or not when he is the one bein asked, he felt he could and he did... so what if its similar, so what if it turned out totally different.... if everyone involved with it (guy,tidy, adam and lez) are happy with it then once its released all everyone else has to do is decide if to buy it or not/if they like it or not?

If all involved are happy with the final product, then, thats that & for as much as someone may not like it im sure there are some who do, same as most tune's produced!!!
