Hey dude - I heard today that Miscrosoft are a MASSIVE target with this worm that is worldwide at the mo.

 

Apparently, this worm camr from China, and, also, apparently, tho people who have not downloaded thr "patch" for the worm that is being filtered into peoples machines across the world (a genius, whoever he / she is !), there is sposed to be another type "virus" to be "launched" by the geniuos who created it, sometime on Saturday. This virus is set to break through firewalls. Even XP/2000's OWN, firewall !

 

On Friday (tomorrow), people will have need to have downloaded this patch by 23:59:59 tomorrow night or else other peoples PC's will be [censored], so they say !

And some servers may be brought down. hmmmm

 

Have you heard much into this ?

I started to look into it a bit... Had to ensure about 35 servers were safe on Tuesday... But then I went on holiday.... All I will say is that a payload is expected... But I haven't really done much work on this particular worm TBH...

 

As for the firewall stuff - it can only break through XP/2000's firewalls if (a) they're not configured correctly and ( it is set to attack vulnerabilities in exisistance with them.

 

As for attacking other firewalls, I think that's deffo pie-in-the-sky stuff. Different firewalls work in different ways. A tiny worm wouldn't be able to be programmed for all vulnerabilities in all firewalls (even ones that haven't been discovered yet). So it will just be down to the configuration of the firewall, and if it's been setup to allow transport through...

In work, there have been a few fixes discovered. The call volumes in work have been the HIGHEST they have EVER been !

 

A fix so far for it though, is resetting the clock on the pc to a year behind, then when the alert comes up and starts a count down from 60 seconds, it says sumthing like "your pc will shut down in 365 days" but it seems to be working on some pc's - but some people who called today, DON'T have any kind of software firewall installed, and DON'T have a firewall on the actuall PC itself. Whihc is pretty bizzare !

 

I was thinking today, might be over analyzed a bit, but was discussing with my mates on lunch break today, this male / female / GENIOUS, who has created this worm, could be someone, who's business has gone bust, (a typical example), and have now created a (or maybe THE best) Firewall. A new product to be launched on the market that is better than any other, so has created this virus / worm, and so this Firewall will soon to be launched and to be "the best", therefore, people will subject to this particular new product that is to be realeased, and then, BOOM. Everyone pays up, they make their money - and their in business! What a way to advertise your product !

 

Stupid way of anylizing the reason for the "worm" you say hahaha makes sense in some way tho - ya never know !
