Bollox. You mean mix hard house and have no challenge ? There's no way you can create a musical landscape like you can with progressive. And if it's so boring, why are so many people into Sasha then ? Fred it's all about peeps personal opinions on music genres so lets not start eh!! I personally like abit of prog but hate D&B, but then there peeps out there that love it................ so to them it's not boring but to me it is!! CTW DJs Tony P Posted August 21, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted August 21, 2003 JoeDrawb said: Wonder if any of you can answer this for me... I can mix together a good set with my Hard Dance and Trance vinyls, no problem...the mixing is pretty spot on for a bedroom Dj. But for some reason sometimes I have trouble holding a mix together with my funky/prog house tunes, they seem to go off beat fairly quickly and are harder to keep in place with making adjustments...not all the time, just every so often.. I've got Numark TTX1's so the torque is pretty good, someone told me that mixing HH / Trance is much easier than house so maybe it's just I haven't spent enough time on the funky tunes....ahhh well only 5 mins then i've finished for the day, home time it's cause the beats are further apart mate. so if you are purely matching the beats you hera them at lobnger intervals.Threfore you can't correct them quick enough. If you get what i mean (I'll try and simplify it, if you mix a tune which is only 2 bpm you can only tell if they are drifting every 30 seconds....however if you mix a tune which is 60 bpm you can correct teh beat every second, not every 30 seconds) try listerning to other instrument in the tunes to keep speed other than just the base, that's all the help i can offer. good luck
CTW DJs Chris Hawkes Posted August 21, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted August 21, 2003 wise words from the tonemeister! try matching the hi hats and the bass beats at the same time - this will double you accuracy as yo uwill be matching two different sounds in the same time period as if you were just trying to match the bass. CTW Members JoeDrawb Posted August 21, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted August 21, 2003 for all your replies...some good points raised... Yeah the only answer is to practice, practice, practice...I could just stick to the Trance and Hard Dance but I like a challenge and surely to be able to mix different genres of music will make me better in the long run...anyone agree?? OR do you think...like Sven once said about Owen Hargraves...He needs to play week in week out in a set position or he will never excel in any one position..Perhaps the same could be said about DJ'in..It may be better to stick to one genre and excel at it..rather than try three different genres and become say, average.. Am off work for three weeks after tomorrow and don't go to Ibiza till Wednesday, so I'm gonna spend 5 days pure and mixing before we go,...happy days Quote chilled out beach house thru to bangin' hard german trance http://stores.ebay.co.uk/worldwidevinyl
