CTW Members Blink Posted September 3, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted September 3, 2003 A friend has asked me about this night, and to be honest, I have never heard of anyone playing it (well, maybe Brisk), and have no idea what style it will be. Anyone help me? Elation return to the Nation's capital on Saturday 20th September for another storming night of Hardcore Dance! This date will also see the launch of the long awaited 'CLSM Remix EP' on Elation Recordings, which features the Elation anthems 'Released' by Stargazer and 'Faces Of Angels' by DOK & Ponder remixed in truely bizarre, but genius CLSM fashion! DJs : • Brisk (Next Generation, Slammin' Vinyl) • Dougal (Essential Platinum, Dreamscape) • CLSM (Adrenalin, MOAS) • Shanty (Electronic, Invasion) • Cris E Manic (Raw Elements, United Dance) • Ponder & HB

I am aware of Happy Hardcore, Hardcore as in punk (which it obviously isn't), Hardcore as in Metal (again which it obviously isn't), I get the feeling that every genre has a sub-genre which is called "Hardcore" What is Hardcore Dance? I've been to a couple of hardcore nights over the last few months and the music sounds nothing like it did a few years ago. Production standards are much better, the freeform stuff played by the likes of Kevin Energy and Sharkey is really good if you like fast NRG music and the atmosphere at hardcore nights is great (even if everyone does look well pikey). CTW Members sven Posted September 3, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted September 3, 2003 hardcore now isn't the happy hardcore of old - its absorbed influences from techno and trance while retaining its own energy and sense of fun and its well worth a listen,
CTW Members slapmatt Posted September 3, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted September 3, 2003 Alot of the stuff played at "Hardcore" nights like Slammin Vinyl is more influenced by trance than it is the old style Happy Hardcore, "Heart of Gold", piano's and cheesey vocals. I think it's more likely to be For an Angel played at 170bpm, but I might be wrong. Quote It's so wrong, yet it's so right.

CTW Members Blink Posted September 3, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted September 3, 2003 OK, for those of you who want to know, this is at Electrowerkz, which is just around the corner from Angel tube station, and it is being hosted on 20 Sept, on one floor. It is a Sat, which is when Electrowerkz also hosts Slimelight, so not taking the piss out of the freaky goths you see when you get to the cloak room, some of them will be my friends!!
