CTW Members alasdairm Posted September 3, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted September 3, 2003 yay! snowboarding is one of my passions. i live (relatively) near the tahoe area - i went about 25 times last year and it was great. this year, i'm starting to think about maybe moving up there this winter to live for a few months. i could earn by teaching and then i could board every day do you ever board stoned? that's a lot of fun. alasdair Quote "I've got medication, honey. CTW Members alasdairm Posted September 4, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted September 4, 2003 where is that and when? i had a look but i can't find any pictures of me snowboarding... what kind of equipment do you use? i have a second hand board a friend gave me which is great. it's a 'profile' by 'division 23' which i've never heard of. i use a 156. my first board was a freestyle board - i think the guy in the store took advantage of my lack of knowledge to get rid of it. i've been in the pipe and the park but i'm only really interested in going downhill. fast. the profile board is much stiffer than my previous board and it makes fast downhill a lot of fun. i can still turn and stop on a dime because i think having the bendier freestyle board help when i was learning. my bindings are sims posilink - kind of like this only in blue: i've never tried step-in bindings but i bought my boots first (obviously) and the soft boots just seemed a lot more somfortable. i find that my whole set-up just feels rock solid with the straps and that's important. my friends mostly use straps also. i think a lot of people are moving back to straps as far as i can tell... finally, my boots are dc shoe premiere. comfortable boots are really important and i tried on about 1000 pairs before i found mine. i love dc shoe skateshoes and i was happy when i found a pair of dc boots. they are called, i think, premiere and they look exactly like this: what's your favourite place to go and why? i'm spoiled as i have tahoe right on my doorstep. my favourite mountain last season was kirkwood: http://www.kirkwood.com/winter.shtml have a look at the trail map. i topped myself this year by cracking 'the wall'. i'm now offically a double black diamond boarder i bought a helmet this year because i've got to the level where i can get off the groomed trails and into the powder in the trees. do people use helmets much in europe? cool thread. alasdair Quote "I've got medication, honey. CTW Members Tara Posted September 4, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted September 4, 2003 I've been skiing a few times, my family goes every winter. I don't really like it much but usually get dragged along anyway! I spend most my time at the ice rink when I'm there tho, hehe.
