I think the whole idea of a clubbing web site is for info on clubs and clubbers as i only post my event on the site and hardly chat on the site is only due to not haveing time ,not because i dont want to know anyone, But when you talk about spam and random posters then you got to realise that sites are not just for people who are on it all the time only but for everyone that comes on the site whether it is once or lots of times or your be marked as clicky as long as promoters post in the approipiate area on the site which am sure the site is most welcome for new clubs and new events to try out then there should be no problem or your just be left with the same old events that either your m8's run.

Me personally think this site is one of the only sites that dont have that clicky members attitude yet.

So keep it fresh and freindly.

Well said scouse, I agree, aslong as it is in the correct forum, its A/ doing no harm & B/ informing peeps of different events, giving peeps choices!!

i give up on this anyway, considering the percentage of people who've replied to this thread out of all the members on the site, it's obvious i'm basically the only one who gets knotted with spam, so leave it as it is. i look forward to events suggestions being full of crap in six months' time. thumbs.gif

(p.s. if anyone cares, an idea of what i was suggesting then check gurn.net, because i think they way they treat spam is brilliant. if you want it, you can read it. if you don't, you don't have to)

Yeah but it's getting sloly harder to trawl through the amount of events posted, and this will only get worse as time goes on and the site gets more popular, so i agree with tom on this.

well then it aint a clubbin site if there is only a select few events posted as it dont repesent the clubbing community and it dont make any difference if your a new member or old as i have been on this site for over a year your just making your selfs look clicky and makes new members more likely not to bother

didn't say only a few events posted, i meant move a lot of the stuff to a separate events forum like we used to have. Basically, hte ones who come on here, maske one post about their event and disapear never to be seen again.

you seem to be taking this personally for some reason? why would that be?

I personally feel that is no harm done if promoters come on post an event in the correct section, then do not post anywhere else... It gives me, a clubber a chance to see what is on etc..... If they did not ever post we would not know what was happening & where!!!!

Aslong as it is kept in the right forum & not posted all over then, what harm really is being done!!!!

I think peeps should lighten up.......

spammers don't represent the clubbing community either. clubbing community members do. which is where event suggestions should come from.

have you read anything i've said? i'm asking for a separate spam forum, not to have spam posts deleted completely.

there's a vast difference between Joe Bloggs saying he's thinking about going to an event and wondering if his mate fancies it, and Mr Money-motivated Promoter wanting to build up a bit of online hype surrounding his/her night. and IMO you've got to draw the line somewhere, else the boundary between the two is blurred, and that's taking advantage of people.

and i don't really see where you're coming from claiming that just because some of us object to spam that we're somehow cliquey. but then i'm coming from the side of the argument as a regular board member who knows a fair few folk on here, comes on almost every day for the banter, tries to make it down for some of the events that people suggest, and am voicing a concern. the reason why you personally would object to a spam forum is obvious.

i've said in the past and i still believe it - i think that a response like this is just not grounded in the real world.

often, for a variety of reasons, the only way to know that you didn't want to read something online is to open the thread and read the first message(s). catch 22?

that's why some degree of organisation and moderation is required. why? because you can tell people 1000 times to please follow a certain rule but, sadly, some people don't listen.. their personal agenda is obviously more important that others'.

the logical extension of this argument is one forum with one big list of everything: random bollox; events; photo links; "smut"; serious stuff; etc.

hey - just don't read any threads you don't like...

surely some small degree of organisation and moderation is necessary and agreeable?

Well this site does have an adequate amount of moderation & if the promoters are putting events & links etc in the correct forum, then that IMO is organised!!!! thumbs.gif

It is after all an events sect!! What would you suggest be put in their instead??????????????? confused.gif

events suggestions = events suggestions (i.e. suggestions from members themselves)

spam = other events coming from non-members that may possibly be of interest to members.

when i'm looking at possible events to make an effort to come down to england for, i want to see suggestions from members that might have a reasonably big CTW contingent going to them, not just shitloads of spam from people i don't know that i have to wade through.

Tom I am not trying to get in a debate with you hon, but your comment, is silly............. You say about members only posting suggestions!!, well the peeps that log in using a user name etc are infact members!!! nod.gif

Ok they may not post on a regular basis, but as pointed out in this thread earlier, to say they are not true members for this reason, or that is IMO cliquey!!
