CTW Members Blink Posted September 5, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted September 5, 2003 Just bought a CD online, and it turned up and is Pc protected, anyone know a way around this, or do I have to return the album and download it for free instead? [i would rather actually own it]

[i would rather actually own it] Do a Google search... IIRC there's something about taking a black marker to the very edge of the CD that gets you around this. Just so you can make a legal backup, of course. CTW Members Blink Posted September 5, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted September 5, 2003 IS it the very OUTSIDE, or INSIDE? It basically says block out track
CTW Members Bukey Posted September 5, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted September 5, 2003 I believe it's the very outside, although you write a CD from the inside out... Gimme 2 mins... CTW Members Blink Posted September 5, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted September 5, 2003 Much weirdness, I started blanking out track 1, and ran out of ink in my marker, so wiped it clean with a bit of tissue, and now my CD player is recognising it fine, and allowing me to rip it to my Hard Drive!!! weird, but working OK, it is only ripping at 5x instead of 16x but it seems to be ripping OK
CTW DJs Phil B Posted September 5, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted September 5, 2003 another way round this is to record the cd in a package like cool edit ( yeah you have to play it at normal speed and re-track it ) then you can do what you like with it, all depends on how desperate you are Quote www.djphilbenson.co.uk - updated 28/08/

CTW Members Blink Posted September 6, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted September 6, 2003 Interesting. Would I be correct in assuming that it actually copies the copy-protection too?
