CTW Members LTM Posted July 3, 2004 Author CTW Members Share Posted July 3, 2004 (edited) No way it's intense, crazy breakdown, these classical remakes always do well in the clubs. CTW Members Aaron Posted July 3, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted July 3, 2004 (edited) I'm not too keen on it as i must admit, but then i loved the Solid Globe mix, when i first heard it, but am pretty bored of it now. Tunes seem to have a very short shelf life with me these days to how they used to... i hope i'm not getting bored... When i first got into Trance tunes had such a lifespan with me I could listen to them over andover again but a few years 6 years later tunes have a shorter lifespan. Cos there are so many Trance producers out there now and so many tunes comingout it's rare to find that something extra special. Recently Alex Morph and Airbase are the new pioneers of the anthemic sound imo. You are right tho Trance these days tries to be to much of a journey or whatever it would be nice if someone like Armin Van Buuren would go back to making those huge anthems like he did in 99. Communication over burned with desire anyday. Quote http://www.myspace.com/jamesdownie
CTW DJs Ian Cashman Posted July 4, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted July 4, 2004 The reason im more of a Tiesto person is because he doesnt just play anjuna-esque record after record. Ive talked with Aaron on msn about this before. Too many people just playing homogenised trance at the mo.
CTW Members Aaron Posted July 4, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted July 4, 2004 We did indeed Ian, and although I do love that anuna type sound, i do loose interest in it quite quickly. It could just be a phase i'm going through, but i do think I need to make a transition into a more tougher edged almost techier trancy sound, to what I normally play. I think Sands of Time, kinda reflects the start of that transition as on the whole its much harder than my previous mixes. I read an interview a while back in mixmag a while back, and i Think it was Tiesto. and he basically said that too many producers are trying to recreate the trancy sound that was around back in 99, which I tend to agree with. Trance seems to be in a kinda stasis at the moment, where the vast majoryty is all kinda fluffy hands in the air stuff... I'd like to see more trance tunes that are tougher, darker, but yet still uplifting.
