pioneer djm600 or tascam X-9

i want the tascam one as it is the dogs nads, but know that the djm600 is in most clubs and really want one to get used to the effects unit on it

what do u think is the best solution, do i save the extra couple of hundred pounds and get the tascam or go for the pioneer

I was going to post a gag about flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality but it's just flogging a dead horse.

if you want the tascam then get it.

mixers arnt that hard to sus out so i doubt having a non-club standard mixer would hold you back

i'd personally go for the djm600, purely because of the amount of venues that have it, although if i could choose any mixer in the world it would be the Allen & Heath Xone 62

i dont have a club standard mixer and every time i go round someones house they have a different mixer. i've never once had the slightest problem working with the different mixers.

maybe, but thats playing around someones house isn't it...probably in good light.

take my word for it, it's a real fucker trying to work out how to work effects ona forigen mixer in a dark night club.

i'd say go for the 600 ben, but if i was getting a new one i might be tempted to get an allen and heath, (even thou i prefer the pioneer over them) for the sole reason that more of the venues i play in have allen and heaths now.

at the end of the day mixers in this region are all very very good, and you will notice this once you have been mixing on them for a week or so. might take that long to get used to it thou

its never been that light as i dont light mixing in the light. plus i was very VERY drunk most of the time.

but i must admit i've never had to work out how to route FX.

i still dont see the issue though as most entrey-level clubs dont have that great mixers anyway (going from other peoples experence granted). i guess it just depends on how seriously ben takes his DJing

well if he is looking to spend that kind of money on a mixer, he must be semi serious about it.

and if he does late have the offer of playing in bigger/better venues it's one less thing that he will have to worry about (and there will be a hell of a lot of things to addapt too, not just a mixer), and i assure you that his mix will be 100 times better.

Good call! The Xone 62 is next on my shopping list. I've got a DJM600 at the mo and to be honest, got quite bored of it as standard. The built in FX are shite, so if you get one, spend a few extra quid and get a decent outboard FX unit and route it through the send/return on the 600 and have a much better selection of things to fuck your tunes about with.

I quite like the xone32, got the xone62 at home but I think the 32 is cuter and like the crossfader on the filters.

The xone 62 is the nads though. 4eqs on 6 channels!

having said all this, my friend came over with a brand new denon mixer the other night that was out of this world....cost him around £800 thou. was based on the pioneer 600 but had the dials and knobs of that allena nd heath use. it also had a usb slot in the back which allows you to download and new effects that are made.....................quiet cool hey. i must say that i did enjoy mixing on it, and the option of being able to add new effects is definately a good selling point
