Underground club scene

Anybody here really into the underground scene? I've only been clubbing for about 18 months, but until Saturday I'd never really been to a proper underground night. I went to see Ikon play at North at Lakota in Bristol. While it wasn't amazingly busy, the crowd were really giving it some to top quality hard trance all night.

 

I suspect those of you who've been at it a lot longer will have been to some nights like this...anybody fancy joining me for one in the future?

 

Also, no disrespect to mainstream clubbers or clubs - [censored] knows it's what I've been into and with my kind of music (melodic / uplifting trance and techy trance) it's the best place to find it - but I really thought the crowd as a whole were that little bit more sincere in their reasons for being there. There seemed to be a more 'real' atmosphere and that's the only way I can describe it. I wouldn't deny that the majority of us who go to Serious or, say, Passion are there for the right reasons...I think it's just that there are always some punters there just to be seen or 'because Jules is playing'. Anyone else noticed this at underground nights...or was I just lucky? Or is it that North has got a really solid following?

Wicked mate! It was totally mind-blowing...wasn't overly impressed with the techno in the second room, but apparently that was just an experiment for one night - normally it's hardcore and gabba...and Ikon tells me that the atmosphere's even better when the hardcore crowd are in...

Yeah, that was probably the quitest North Bristol has ever been! mainly down to 2 points -

 

1. There was no Hardcore(Gabber)on

2. A lot of the Bristol crowd went down to Hardcore Heaven

 

Was still a top class night tho, and there are loads of clubs like it all over the country! Like I said to ya, most of the best clubs are down your way! The underground Hard Trance scene in the S.West is awesome!!! I'll come visit soon no doubt about it!

Underground is great. To me it's all about balancing the variety, the contrast and the crowds that are offered between big commercial events, smaller "sort-of-mainstream" events, and small underground events.
