Is there anything after death?

this has probably been done before, but people's ideas and beliefs change, that and i'm a lazy bugger and don't feel like trawling through 5298569265 different posts and topics nerner.gif

i always used to think that once you're dead, then that's it, you're worm food. but i dunno, as i've grown older and less of an angsty teen nu-metaller/goth, my thoughts and views have changed to the stage where i am not sure what there is when we die, but that there must be something, whether it be meeting some guy with a beard called god, or reincarnation, or whatever.

just recent events have made me take stock and think about things like this, and it may just be that the not very comforting idea of oblivion after death that has made me change my views, since as i speak i am at home as my granma is soon to pass away.

so any ideas on the subject? whether it be, my original thoughts: "you're worm food" or something else, sorry for rambling...

I don't believe that there is anything after death. You just cease to be alive, all the functions and systems that support you through life cease to operate and that's it, you're dead.

I don't do much on this planet, but David Blaine has taught me that I could do less!!

Saying it's a "fact" does not actually qualify it as a "fact". Proof is needed, actual testable, measurable proof of it's existence is needed before it can claimed as proof and to date there is none. There is plenty of hearsay and conjecture on the matter, but nothing that can actually proove it's existance.

Sorry to hear about your Grandma hun. grouphug.gif

I do believe there is something when you die. I went to a medium when my Granparents passed away and it was truly amazing. There is no way this woman could have known the things she told me. My mum often goes to a spiritualist church and has readings. My brothers are a bit dubious but have never been. I don't believe in one god or anything like that but I believe in a spirit of the person passed over. I also believe that some can get stuck along the way which is where you get ghosts and all that.

Sorry to hear about your granma mate. Both my grand parents passed away this year and has made me question the whole meaning of life - and death.

I still get the feeling my grandfather is watching over me - or maybe I just pretend he is and then try to live my life as he would have done. (what would he have done in my position sort of thing). Deep down though I know he is gone for good and all that is left of him is the ashes scattered along the coast of Cornwall and the memories he has left behind with his friends and family.

It's only natural that given the enoymity of death we try kid ourselves into thinking that there is a life after death (i.e beliving in a religion or re-incarnation) but i think the harsh truth is there is nothing - except perhaps eternal peace smile.gif
