CTW Members Mr Happy Posted October 27, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted October 27, 2003 i'm sick of my decks i think the problem is theres no records that are the style i play that have really grabbed my as being good records lately. and the records i do have have been played to death this is about the time i usually turn back to producing for a bit. *hunts round for reason manual* Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/

CTW DJs DJ Elemental Posted October 27, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted October 27, 2003 producing is better than dj'in imo.. i dont see what the big thrill is seein ppl jump around to other ppls choons - produce ya own tracks, press um to vinyl when ya good nuff - i bet its a compleatly different feeling. if u need help with producing or wanna colaborate or anything lemme know - i liked the style of ya last track - be interesting to see what we can come up with together Quote http://bos.abavagada.net/oddfiles/djelementalonline.jpg

CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted October 27, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted October 27, 2003 Get into some different styles of music Happy! You might be surprised what you can get into if you force yourself to listen to different stuff. Usually I buy anything from deep house to dark techno, but every now and then I break my own "rules" and buy trance, breakbeats or whatever... Elemental: I agree that producing kicks the [censored] out of DJing. But DJing still rules. Don't knock it 'till you've tried it!
CTW Members Mr Happy Posted October 27, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted October 27, 2003 i dont buy records that exclusively fit a genre tho andy. i buy everything from breakbeat to hardhouse. but the doesnt change the fact that i havnt found many records that grab me Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/

CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted October 28, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted October 28, 2003 I know the feeling Mr Happy. Just buy the tunes that do really grab you. Nowadays I do buy a much smaller proportion of the records I listen to in a shop. Sometimes I get frustrated that I can't buy a certain sort of music, e.g. stuff I've heard in a club but can't find anywhere, so I just console myself by trying to compose my own stuff in that style! CTW Members Mr Happy Posted October 28, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted October 28, 2003 hmmm i take this all back. i really really really enjoyed my mix today i think it was helped in part by the lack of pressure to play an ultimate mix cd and partly the alcohol Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/

CTW Members BenRW Posted October 29, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted October 29, 2003 if u get bored of djing then ur hearts not in it. i cud mix an hour everyday for a year and still not be bored. This cud be to do with my 1800+ tracklisting, (NB this is not single listing but mixable tracklisting) I just love the music and mixing tunes u like and recording it is so much more satisfying than listening to a bought cd mixed by fudge tools or sum other big name dj because there will always be 1 or 2 tunes in the middle u dont particularly like or hate completely Quote I was going to post a gag about flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality but it's just flogging a dead horse.
