Divorce, sexism & gold-digging

Of course marriage is a declaration of love, first and fulmost, but when you choose to bring a child into the world other than to nanny it off, there has to be one of you that gives a career up. In most cases it is that of the mother, he gave her that right when that choice was made betweem both of them for it to be her and not him that brought their children up.

If the divorce had never happened with those two then i'm sure he'd have had no quarms over how much money she was or was not bringing into the household, he was happy for her to stay at home and be the full time mother to his children, to live off his wages, for her not to work, who's to say who's fault it is, the divorce, amd i'm sure if it was the other way round, her being the bread winner so to speak the same would of happened.

who are we to say ought

This is true.

Even though my opinion still stands further back in this thread, and 400k a year is a rediculous ammount of money, but we do not know the ins and outs as to what and why she deserves this 400k.

We are just outsiders reading about it.

But he is a footballer who earns ridiculous amounts of money just because he kicks a football around.

Now if we were talking of a factory worker who was on £5.50 an hour and his wife the figures would not be the same.

I think we're missing the point a little here...

It seems to be a great big ASSUMPTION that a woman is entitled to half her bloke's dosh on divorce. Nobody seems to be questioning this assumption.

I can't think of ONE reason why this selfish bint should get so much money.

Saying "well the court ruled in her favour, therefore she must be right" is NOT a bullet-proof argument! scratchy.gif

This particular case sets a dangerous precedent as to a woman's supposed "rights" upon divorce. Given such a high divorce rate in our country, I consider this a very serious issue.

Arbitrarily giving loads of dosh to the poorer party seems to have no basis in morals, practicality or common sense.

She had some damn fine legal representation to pull off that ruling, she'll need that £400K a year to pay for their fees. wink.gif

Better than earning a ridiculous amount of money by being MARRIED to a footballer.

Well I think she deserves it because (as a joint decision in their marriage!!) they chose between them for her to live off him to bring their children up. Just because the marriage has failed she still has to bring the children up and live herself.

Why should her life change just because of a divorce?

...which I would ALSO disagree with!

My girlfriend earns more than I do. But if we marry, then split up, I don't want her fucking money. It's her money, not mine!

Why should HIS life change just because of a divorce?

Who is the victim in this case?

Correct ... but if she'd allowed you to live off her earnings for 10+ years(which I know you wouldn't accept) where would that leave you.

As been stated before, maybe to accomodate the lifestyle she & her children have been living already, who is to say that they haven't got the three children in private education etc etc, I can see what you are saying Andy & yes it does seem a riduculas ammount, but the courts have probably thoroughly worked out the ins & outs etc & have awarded her & his 3 children this amount & see it as fair shrug.gif

Techno, Techno, Techno
