i don't think it's a good idea; vegetarian alternatives are hidiously expensive by comparison to meat products, and if you're not getting the right balance it won't do you any good.

 

get your meat from a butcher as opposed to a supermarket - it's usually cheaper. get your veg from the market - again it's cheaper. and get the rest of your stuff from aldi or netto.
