House and "funky"

"Funky House" is a funny thing to say when you think about it.

 

I mean, all house is designed to be funky, that's kinda the point of house. What house producer goes into the studio thinking "hmm I'm gonna make a house tune but I don't want any of that funky business"

 

I therefore propose that everyone stops calling it funky house. It's house. The funky bit is redundant.

i think too many people feel they have to brand a ceratin style of music into sub-genres......house is house...funky or not....trance is trance....hard or not. every genre will have sub-genres but how people put tunes into these catagories all depends on how they view the music.

 

i may think a tune is funky when others dont...end of the day who really cares? good music is good music, as long as you like it what does anything else matter?

Funny - I see "funky house" as a subset of "house".

This is not a debate about the merits of house or funkiness.

 

It is a plea to stop using redundant terminology.
