The Current State of Hard Dance

I can feel this going epic but there you are.

Given the current and rapid decline in the popularity and success of hard house, what do you mob think is going to be next big thing?

It strikes me that hard house appears to have seperated into, on one side, a very bad kind of hard trance, and on the other, a slighty dull variant of not particularly hard techno. In the main anyway- im fully aware that there are still a number of tracks coming out that arent fitting either of those descriptions, but the majority are.

Hard house, in my eyes anyway, has very little innovation any more, and I really cant remember a new track coming out that really got me hoing since Crazy Pills was released.

My opinion is that the end of 2004 will see hh going underground again (which imo will make it better) and the rise of hardcore, based on the premise that a large number of smaller nights are booking hardcore djs, the ones we have in Leeds are doing well (Incision and Cypher) and a mate of mine has just been signed up as a hardcore resident for Sundissential Birmingham.

So then, thoughts? Opinions?

Although to be fair mate, if you are travelling to London for a night your going to the big ones that people travel to.

You could say that trance is still as thriving as it was 4 years ago if all you went to was gatecrasher and godskitchen.

Hixxy's RAVER BABY label apparantly sells more then Incentive.... I would say hardcore is still a VERY BIG force in the dance scene....

ive nothing against hardcore im just not into hard house nights havin a hardcore room.

i kind of agree, unless there are 4 rooms or sumat like that... other then the bpm difference, there aint a lot to set it aside from hard dance at all

now a room going from hard dance to hardcore on the otherhand gets a big thumbs.gif from me - not enough progression in clubs at all!
