I disagree Chris, there is a quite a few psy nights in & around London & they are wicked!! well, in that case I am gonna keep my fingers crossed that the usual 'trend' happens in this case..... usually something starts in london and spirals outwards! Even so, im not sure that psy has the same appeal that other hard dance styles have.... although there are some [censored] awesome tracks being released from abroad at the moment! I like Hard House, and even some (vocal) garage, and I really don't feel the need to try and make myself look more credible by dressing my music up as something other than it is. Agreed re "rebranding". I think it's getting ridiculous how many different sub-genres of hard dance there are. It reeks of people trying to differentiate themselves from a perceptually "less cool" genre, but often there is little difference between these genres other than a few BPM. It makes me laugh when people write off "generic" trance as shite, yet claim to love "hard trance". Most of the hard trance nights I've been to, I would just call "fast trance". I.e. trance, just as fluffy, but about 10bpm faster (IMO, more cheesy as a result). And then gabba / hardcore / freeform / industrial techno / whateverelse-core / hardstyle etc etc... are these styles really so different? [N.B. not being a genre-bullshitter I don't actually know the difference between all of these!!] It seems no-one can even agree on the differences between some of these genres. I mean, tech-house DJs don't go around saying "no that's electo tech-house, not tribal tech house" just because of a 5bpm difference, or because a tune has a "bleep" instead of a bongo. I think it just goes to show how narrow-minded some people are, when they feel the need to typecast genres so specifically. I mean, what's the point? Would anyone actually want to go to a gabba night where they only played gabba?
