Fully agreed IMO - why should a song (a totally non dance track) be re-released / remixed by someone else ? The way I look at this, is, if the person who released the track, wether it be years ago, or even a week ago, which doesnt relate to the "hardhouse" / "trance" , then im sure the person who composed the track, would have thought to produce / sign it to that specified genre. hmm I know what I mean, probably just doesnt come across clear enough ? But yeah, some re-mixes sound good, some don't. But I agree with Kev, why kill a tune that once sounded good, and then re-mixed into something that can / will sound awfull ? Some old tunes from "back in the day" are brought "back - to - life", but the majority of them are, as Kev says, "killed". CTW Promotors CreamyC Posted November 17, 2003 Author CTW Promotors Share Posted November 17, 2003 I forgot to add this was a bootleg of a bootleg. Thats just wrong. PS. Why are bootlegs called bootlegs ? CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted November 17, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 17, 2003 I love the original Billie Jean. And I would class it as a dance track to start with anyway (it's disco!) Creamy, the word "bootleg" comes from the fact smugglers used to conceal booze in their boot legs. Hence "bootlegging", illegally transporting/smuggling stuff. Technically a bootleg record is one released without the permission of the writer / record label, so it's sold illegally.
CTW DJs LittleMissLoud Posted November 17, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted November 17, 2003 I heard (dunno if it's true) that a real bootleg is just a copy of something, not that tune remixed, or combined with another tune. Also, Creamy whingebag, I bet you didn't moan when Bushwanka 'bootlegged' it. Quote I'M HUNGRY!

(like the hardhouse remixes of faithless tunes. they only use the riffs from the tune without much thought about the tension in the original or the atmosphere it was setting, or even the point behind the vocals etc). * also most unofficial remixes dont seem to be to high standard (usually because if it was, the original artist would endorse it), yet people still release it as a bootleg. theres no excuse for releasing [censored] music - end of. A real bootleg is illegal. It is the fact that it has been unofficially released, or unofficially remixed, or unofficially hybridized with another track, that makes it a bootleg. Technically, if a hybrid track gets an official release (i.e. agreed by the two parties concerned) it is no longer a bootleg, as far as I understand. But often they are referred to as bootlegs, because usually they start out life as true bootlegs (botched together by some anonymous 3rd party and illegally distributed). Exactly.. and i guess there's gonna be good and bad remixes.. its down to peoples perceptions of the music tho, be it the finished remix/the remixer/genre its been remixed to or what they thought of the tune before.. i think a lot of time when people dont like a remix of somethin is because they LOVED the original.. that or its a hard house remix and they dont like hard house Quote You Can Never Have Too Much Of A Good Thing It'd Be Rude Not 2!! *I Need A Tissue* MSN: Claire___DC @hotmail.com Email: clairedc @ dsl .pipex .com
