CTW DJs Tony P Posted November 19, 2003 Author CTW DJs Share Posted November 19, 2003 however nero no longer works...ha ha but this new cd copying package from Sony we got with the burner seems better than nero to tell you the truth and actually works

If it's all working good now then it doesn't matter As for nero not working....it may not support your new writer, that happened when I changed mine but then realised the new nero disc had updated software on it! CTW Members Phil rr Posted November 19, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 19, 2003 i'd be suspicious that it's down to the "eject media" option. but good idea. probly something like: Writing speed too high burning is set to track-at-once or session-at-once. try "disc-at-once". *mumbles things about making sure dma is enabled on the drive*. nero should be version 5.5 or 6. using XP i take it? Guest
tis ok now. just nero playing up, when we open it says choose recorder??? then the only option given is image recorder????? Any ideas??
CTW Members Phil rr Posted November 19, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 19, 2003 yep. the version of nero you have doesn't support the cd burner ur using. u need to download a 4 byte (or something) patch just to tell the software information about the recorder. easy - and standard. the image recorder is for making an 'image file' of the 700MB (or whatever) onto the hard drive, which you can then burn onto a cd at any time. CTW Members Daredevil Tony Posted November 19, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 19, 2003 With Xp its all drop and drag and then you run a burning wizard, very easy!
CTW Members Phil rr Posted November 19, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 19, 2003 no, Tony. XP has very limited burning capabilities. you don't want to use XP's built in burning capabilities.
CTW Members Daredevil Tony Posted November 19, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 19, 2003 Works for all i want it to do but I see where your coming from Phil
CTW Members Phil rr Posted November 19, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 19, 2003 XP's built in burning does not finalize discs until you can't fit any more on the disc. So if you want to burn a 50MB file, and finalize the disc to make it easier to read in another drive, and to make sure no one adds anything to the disc, you can't. XP also doesn't give you control over the gap between tracks. so if you want to burn a disc with a 2s gap, you can't. and more things i can't remember. CTW DJs Phil B Posted November 20, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted November 20, 2003 that's what happened when I replaced my writer, I only thought after a while to check what version the Nero disc was at that came with it.....found out it was a different version of Nero, installed it and all was fixed the patch should be available from the Nero website!
