just had a look at the members list and...

there are so many people on there with no posts but have been registered for ages. Why not delete these and any other profiles that haven't been used in last couple of months?

might as well put that effort into make rhe board gd for the members who use the board frequently - i dont think an empty profile even takes up a fraction of the server space - if it did then yea - might be worth it

yep, good idea, the current member count is about 2000 which is unrealistic. i will delete all the non active users (people who havent logged in within say the last 6 months).

 

its crucial we reflect a true member count, and not enter some silly numbers game

 

having said that we have email addresses for these people and we should email them the newsletter perdiodically (if they have requested it)

You could keep their passwords ect if you like .

why? space isnt an issue. they may once day log back in

Point - i'd be well gutted if after 6 months i came back, tried to log in and my profile had been deleted, what about if you were to go away for 6 months and couldnt access the web?

 

A more practical exercise would be to gain information from users who have logged in for the last 12 months, leave the unused profiles intact, and gain information from the 'live users'?

or possibly, once you have discovered who has not posted logged in, in the last 6 to 12 months & send them an email, asking if they would like their account kept or removed, bit time consumming I know but im sure peeps would help!!!

id suggest deleting members that have not been active for up to 6 months..its obvious they are not active users/contributors..and if they wish to rejoin in the future they can simply get there old names back....

 

Its the only real way of keeping up to date on active members

yes but thats lurking & that naughty!!! I think up to 8months of no activity & they should be sent an email asking if all is ok & that we notice the account not being used, would they like to remain members or be deleted so to speak & as said already, if they wanna come back it aint hard to join is it!!!

I know someone who looked for a long time
