Acid Disco - Paul Glazby & The Narcomaniacs

Been listening to this a lot since Saturday when I finally got round to listening to Chris Hawke's latest Demo CD - Energizer (which is most excellent BTW! - nice one Chris)

This is a quality tune - not sure how long its been out but reflect on the type of HH I like most - what I would call Driving Hard House (until someone corrects me).

I find tunes like this have a close resemblence to the faster/harder intelligent Techno I like - like that played at the afterclub (Fire?) after Smile the other week. By the way if anyone knows who the DJ was for the last hour or so before I left PLEASE let me know - the music played was some of the best I've heard for ages - even Maria who wasnt previously really into that type of music couldnt help but move to the beat whilst sat down. Very 'racey' - lots of interesting drum fills going on and again more 'driving'.

I personally cant wait to get my hands on some more tunage like this and preferably compile my own CD of it to explain exactly what I mean as its important to me to be able to explain the exact styles I like to people (although sometimes I agree with Liam/Liquideyes in that you shouldnt try to pigeon hole music so much!)

I would love a CD collection of that style that was played.

As me and Bushy kept on and on to eachother Saturday night - there is nothing better than a banging, juicy, heavy bassline to thrive off, to the point where you (this might sound really stupid, but this is how I describe that kind of music / bassline) feed off it grin.gif

The music at Fire - was absolutly DIFFERENT and also the dogs danglees. There should be more of it around / DJs that play that style.

thanks lisa - yeah makes sense - defo the acidy rifts I'm getting more into again now as well smile.gif If you know of any artists/djs/clubs related please let me know ASAP

I know they play more of it at the end of the night - last time I heard it was about a YEAR ago at the end of Hardhouse Academy - and I remember saying something then about it too - just peed off I cant find a night/djs who play it ALL night.

I would love a night which is harder/acidy HH coupled with faster Techno smile.gif

think your on about the DAVE the drummer remix..... its just hard as fook acid :-D

the 303 is one hell of a machine when used properly - may not be the most complex piece of equipment ever made, but it can be devastating when used properly - its the main reason I love freeform so much as shitloads of tracks use it....

as for the track in question, thought orig was poop, but remix is best VC release todate imo!!

Coming soon...

4th March 2006, VALVE SOUNDSYSTEM @ Sheffield Uni with Pendulum, Roni Size, Dillinja, Sub Focus and more!!!

As far as I can remember at twist, the music that James is on about isnt so much acidy. It was simply Hardhouse crossed with techno (in a dog-breeding kind of way) Fast as [censored], awesome percussion, loads of wee 4bar filtered down/up breaks. No big breakdowns, no cliched stabs or riffs.

James, Captain Cunted told me a name of one of the tunes played that night which I really liked. Its Powerpoint "Wajamaster" on Hotwax Records. Check it out and tell me if thats the sort of thing you're on about.

THE MUSIC AT TWIST THAT NIGHT ROCKED !!
