i think girls find gay clubs more safe, becuase you don't get some drunk sleezey lad coming up to you, plus the enviorment is much more better and people are freindly

Hmmmm.... is that why it's 90% blokes then? I prefer a club that's a good mixture..... of young beautiful people smile.gif

you wouldn't get in tho! rotfl.gif

I haven't got a problem with places being gay or straight (obviously!) - I go to both types of club... Subway City in Brum though is becoming one amazing place at the moment. A few years ago I thought it was magical - it was prodominantly gay then though, although very straight friendly (a lot of my mates that came with us were straight). It did, however, lose its touch for a while.

Now, in the past three months, it's regained its magic... And surpassed anything it ever had before. Although it proclaims itself to be a gay club, it's not really anymore. Although many gay people proclaim that it's gone straight, it hasn't. Saturday night (although the music wasn't as good as it normally is for Blue) was just amazing. Everything clicked into place.

I'd convinced a load of the SS gang, who are currently unhappy with the way SS has been going, to give Blue a go. A load of others did Frisky in Kidderminster to support a mate playing there, and then came to Subway about 3am. Others did SS and came into Subway for Afters. Early on in the night, some of my old clubbing mates were in for Blue. They asked me who I was there with, and I took them up to the cafe.... I looked, and basically said, "I'm here with that half of the cafe." It then hit me - a huge clubbing family has built up in Birmingham. Where there used to be lots of small groups of friends, there's now a large family - and it's all centreing around Subway and events held there.

Once everyone else was in from Frisky and from SS, we'd got most of the cafe and a huge amount of the main arena. We'd got a large portion of the entrance bar. We'd got the stairs at the back, and the chillout of the upstairs arena.

It's a gay club, but without any real attitude. The (very) few that were causing a problem for straight people have stopped - they realise it's a better clubbing atmosphere when we all just have fun.

Getting back to Twist, one thing I have noticed is that some of the gay guys there are intent on making life uncomfortable for straight people. I think this will disappear, as it has at Afters (and Subway as a whole).

A totally mixed event, with no attitude and a regular group or "family" definately makes for a great party. And after parties are absolutely brilliant.

In Birmingham, for many HH followers, it's all become about Afters - and I think it really has become the best after party that there is. Now Subway aren't paying SS ridiculous amounts of money for the "ssential" name, they've pumped it right back into the DJ lineups, which have gone from good to absolutely brilliant.

Anyway, the two points I'm making are:

- Twist is a great after party, but I think some (gay) guys do try and make straights feel uncomfortable. This used to happen at Afters, but has thankfully now practically disappeared.

- Afters is a great after party, DDT you should try it!
