I just had one of those phone scam calls!

 

The one where it says 'You have won bla bla bla....please press 9....'

The warning that had the piss took out of it for being a hoax

 

I had the same call last week.

My little sister has just said that she answered one last week!

 

She doesnt use the Internet and she knew nothing about this scam but she recited out the exact words the message says!

 

Luckily she didnt press 9! (apparently she wanted to phone her mate and didnt want to listen to a 'stupid message' haha! quality!)

in the UK, the phone system uses 'calling party pays'. how woudl they charge your bill if they called you?

Well I aint an expert on phone systems but I can safely say that this scam/hoax/whatever is happenin cos Ive heard it with me own ears!

It was found out to be happening - the actual calls.. but nothing havin bein found about the call charges occuring as it isnt possible to do that on our phone system.
