I'm writing a piece about clubbing web boards, and am looking for opinions in particular about Gurn.net.

Those expressed here may be quoted in the article, and if you do not want your User Name to be mentioned please say so.

Anyone wanting to write to me directly should do so to:

[Please note that the above question was posted a few days ago but the post was abitrarily closed with no reason given. As the question allows for people to express any opinion they like for or against, and all will be taken account of, attempting to censor this question seems pointless.]

look, the mod's have deicded to close it, when you signed up you agreed to abide by their rules/decisions.

that and discussions about other messageboards and stuff generally leads to pointless bickering about how such and such site is [censored].

The two messages above question why I re-started this thread. Here are the board's rules:

"Welcome to the ClubTheWorld.uk Discussion Forums

We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below.

Although the Administrators and Moderators of the ClubTheWorld Discussion Forums will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, the owners of the ClubTheWorld.uk LTD will not be held responsible for the content of any message.

Having clicked the Agree button, you warrant that you will not post any messages or images that are obscene, vulgar, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

The owners of the ClubTheWorld.uk Forums have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

ClubTheWorld.uk / Discussion Forum Rules

The following are NOT acceptable on the message board at ClubTheWorld.uk:

* No racist, homophobic, derogatory, threatening, abusive or harassing comments about any person, member or group.

* No slanderous or libelous posts - knowingly making false claims about a company, organization or individual is prohibited.

* While we enjoy lively discussion, personal attacks against other members will not be tolerated.

* Glorification of drug use, or any talk of drugs which also mentions either a person/people, a place or a time.

Warnings and banning process

If you make a post which our moderators feel is not in accordance with the rules we will contact you by Private Message (PM) to let you know that your post was not acceptable, or was placed in the wrong forum. The topic may be closed or moved.

For more serious cases or for persistent out of line posts you will be warned. A moderator will contact you by Private Message and your post will be deleted.

In the case of a repeat warning then you will not be allowed to post for up to 7 days.

If you receive a further warning then your account will be deleted indefinitely (along with your Privates Messages)

Reporting posts

If you see a post which you feel should not be in that forum or abuses the rules please use the reporting-post feature. At the bottom right hand corner of each message is a link to 'Report this post to a moderator'. You will be asked for a reason, and one of our moderators will look at the post as soon as possible.

Alternatively if you see a moderator online, please contact them via PM (Private Message)"

Would you please explain to me how MY post violates any of those rules?

Your argument seems to be based around the idea that I have started a POTENTIALLY controversial thread, and that OTHER people MIGHT post objectionable messages. Presumably that's what moderators are there to deal with IF that happens. I have offered no opinion about Gurn, and you are presuming a lot about my motives and inentions without knowing a thing about me. Don't you think that's somewhat unfair?

Please also note that the rules provide a mechanism for informing posters of the problem. The moderator who closed the thread didn't do that. The thread was closed without warning or explanation. Don't you think that if there are rules, they ought to be kept, otherwise what's the point of having them?

I wasnt sure why this was closed either but I've just checked and one of the mods quite rightly closed it as they feared it would just turn into a slagging match - which it always does. They did intend on PMing you / or putting a message at the bottom of the closed post - I will check with them.

In my opinion Gurn is a great site with a lot of good content. I find the message board is very harsh at times to new people but I believe its all just banter at the end of the day - I've even met some of the harsher people at afterparties who have turned out to be extremely funny people and a right laugh.

The best site out there for all round content, layout, navigation is most definitely HarderFaster however.

I CLOSED THE POST.

Although, I didnt give an explanation - usually I do, but I must have been side tracked.

The reason I closed th epost, as explained in PM to the thread starter of this thread, I wouldn't be suprised if the Memebers on gurn would sign up on here, after hearing that they are being discussed on another message board, coming on here, slagging everyone off (and I KNOW ho harsh some of them can be, and they can offend the sensitive people), getting them selves banned etc etc

WE DONT WANT THAT.

That is a perfectly good reason why this post should not go any further.
