Sundissential: IMPORTANT VERY NEWS IT ABOUT.

yes people you read it right.

as a few of you know Cobarna has closed down.we were throw in to a bit ov a predicament when Danny was informed of this news.anyway over the last 5 days Danny & Helen heve worked tirelessly trying to swcure our future.we had a meeting thursday night to look over Polaris (formerly Tiger Tiger) on broad st but as a venue we did'nt feel is 110% right.anyway Danny has "scored the winning goal in injury time"(thats my unique way of describing it,lol)by securing SS's future at former home(well not technically but.....) we will now be situated at the old Central Park club.which was once part ov Pulse.before you all jump on the Zanzibar bandwagon where we are going to be is NOT IN ZANZIBAR.it is a different venue altogether.

we had a look over it this afternoon & all im gonna say is WOW!!!!!!!!

there will be 2 rooms, the HardHouse room which is like the Fraggle room in Cobarna but with everything that was missing from there.the DJ box is in in the middle ov the room surrounded by dance floor,there are small balconies & a 2 tier dance floor.the bar is away from the main floor & there are also loads ov comfy high back settee's.oh yeah & there is also a fountain on the 1 side of the room built in to the wall.

then we have a passage way of about 150-200 ft that leads to the Funky room.this itself is a spectackle.with the dance floor situated in the middle surrounded by railings & the dj booth at the opposite end.it has some wicked lighting(which im sure will be elaborated on ) & more than enough seating & chillout zones.

the main entrance in will be on Smallbrook Queensway(about 100 yrd up the hill from Cobarna).you walk down the stairs in to the Funky room & there you are

as for the name well what better than Pulse?????? it is situated in the rear of the old pulse where it all started & Helen has said she wants "Pulse" on the front door in neon so who are we to argue?

all in all i think this is going to be one of biggest things to happen in Sundissential's history & all thanks go's to all the managment team for securing the future of our club.

I dont want to veer from the subject but, I have been going to sundisential since the latter days of pulse(genuinly too!!!), and since ss left their original home it has been nothin but chop & change all the [censored] way!

 

Their first move to the que club was in my opinion the best thing they ever did, the Que is and probably always will be the best venue birmingham has!

 

I feel that they should have stuck to their monthly nights there instead of reverting to a weekly event at the s(k)anctuary.

 

DNA was a quality club, only went their a couple of times but the venue just didnt seem right for hardhouse?

 

The academy is a good concert venue nothing more, it had a very odd feel to it as if you were dancing in an old cinema or something!

 

Cobarna was a shite venue pure and simple, crap soundsystem, it was just a bar nothing else, the management only brought in ss on a saturday night as they couldnt fill the place themselves.

 

I know nothing about the new place, but as for trying to shoehorn a bit of history into it buy sticking "pulse" above the door i think its pathetic.

 

I am one of ss's biggest fans and most loyal members(remember when you couldnt get in with the old 'red' membership cards and you were made to 'upgrade' them for yellow ones? ffs!!) but over the last couple of years it has gone from bad to worse, the arse has fallen ou tof sundissential in a big way and the current crop of ss management dont seem to have a [censored] clue!

Have you any idea how hard it is to find a venue at all - let alone a venue that suits, is the right price, that the owners will agree to a night there, that wont be closing in the next X amount of months? Sundissential have had a lot of bad luck over the past few years down in Birmingham and have had to take what is there even if it doesnt totally suit them.

There is nothing more frustrating & upsetting than finally finding a venue to then find out the owners are selling it or are getting pressure off the police to close or have had a better offer from elsewhere.

Credit where credit is due to Sundissential - they have had nothing but a struggle over the last few years & havent given up !

the sundis name, everyone knows its crashed & burned. If they were really passionate about the scene they would put it down & start again. But theyare not, they have got their fingers crossed they can squeeze just a bit more money out of it.

At the end of the day its a business & are not in it to lose money. Its hard enough putting on a night & harder still making any money out of it. I think they deserve credit for lasting this long when big promotions such as Gatecrasher have almost gone under.

The madders thing was nothing to do with them - if someone posted some crap about you would you sit there & listen to people slaggin you off for being unprofessional?

y is every1 slating SS??? the place has provided more amazing nights than any other venue most of you have been 2 (im referring to the people i used to go SS with and they always said that it was THE best)

 

just cos of bad luck, and a few probs u all slate it 4 being money grabbing etc... without money it wud be nothing!
