Think its cos it is over 2 pages or more than one page long, look at the bottom of the forums, may tell you there

It is definately when you've posted in a thread. Try posting in one that doesn't have a dot on it (you should notice a conspicuous absence of posts from yourself in thread), after posting you'll see a dot.
