i was talking to james b4 the old site went down and did say to him that the large amount of people that were registered had either just joined and buggered off or had posted hello then buggered off!!!

 

hadnt come out once and met people or just thought i will join and dint give another thought after that!!!!

iv joined, sat back and read the posts for a few days/weeks and realised that its not the board for me (usually there full of scary people or its to busy/quiet)

i prefere a site that i can actually meet people instead of just talking to people i will hardly ever meet.

We had around 2000 members on old site but only 400/500 logged in each month.

 

We should be back to around that 400/500 in no time but its actually quite nice having a fresh forum again and no one in competition over how many posts they can make. There are fewer/cleaner posts and its easier to track them, although I'm sure we'll get back to having 'too' many again at some point. Some may be put off from re-registering but the main thing is that people can still contact and arrange to meet-up. I'm sure once I get the other 'bits' of the site up more people will re-register. But its defo not a numbers game or competition with other boards/sites. Only slightly annoying thing is that I cant quote references from older posts on the old board (yet)

Nice one - this is a classic statement - this is exactly what we're trying to achieve here...

 

Unlike the old board/site its not all about promoting the name / getting as many random people on the site as possible... Its about letting people (who we think would be interested) know about the site - with an expectation that they will want to register, get to know people and actually come out clubbing/socialising with us. Of course we still want to attract people from overseas with a view to meeting them one day (either here or there), but we are mainly trying to attract people who will become a core part of the membership and people who's goal it is to meet new people. The current membership / forum interactivity reflects on us quite well at the moment I think as most of the posters are the ones who actually come out.
