After around 3 months of trying I still can't format/copy/get anything out of my new HD. Does anyone know where I can get (for free) a program to copy the info from my current HD to the new one. Iv'e tried freeware.com but they all have limitations on them which mean I can't copy from a 40gb to an 80gb.

you wont be able to do it unless the HDDs are the same size (i would imagin) as they take an 'image' of the drive to copy it.

if its a new HDD tho, you may need to set up the primary partition 1st, hence you not being able to format it.

Use ghost to make an image file.

It will only take up the space that's been used.

Like Happy said, the disc might be set up wrong - could be an idea getting something like partition magic to check that it's partitioned properly
